Some time back I “installed” a pro shift knob in my tundra, when installing I gave it one two many turns and something inside came loose. Not the knob spins freely and can be pulled all the way up the shifter shaft but will not come off. Anyone had any experience with this? Any tips on getting this sucker off? I have a Tacoma pro knob to replace but would possible like to keep the tundra shift intact if at all possible

Yes, i did the exact same thing, and it snapped the ring inside. Took it to the dealer cuz I was afraid to pull the knob to hard. He just grabbed that thing and yanked it off. It wont hurt anything, just pull up and put some muscle into it.

Thanks for the responses. I ended up trying a couple different ideas. Drilled a small hole on the backside that wasn’t visible and used a screw to make the inside guy spin with the outside of the knob. About 3/4 of the way off the shifter I noticed the very bottom price of the knob looked like it was loosening. I took a small chisel and popped it off (it’s just glued in place). Once the bottom of the shift was removed I was able to slide to top portion off the interior threaded peice. If you are more careful than I was you may be able to just unscrew and Reglue in the threaded peice.

On a side note I’m pretty disappointed on how cheaply made these 70 dollar shifters are
