I have to say, the company really took there time and had someone go through the install procedures on this item. Whole install took 45 minutes with just me doing it. Only tools needed were Phillips head screwdriver, 14mm socket ratchet, tape measure, and Allen keys provided in the install kit.

This is the T80841 Pro XR model with T slots for crossbars or strut posts.

Here is the unboxing of the unit. Two boxes shipped:

    20191223_174619.jpg

Here is the totality of all hardware provided:

    20191223_175949.jpg

An up close of a not so clear direction on the pamphlet, the hole with my left finger must go to the right behind where my other finger is:

Here is the unit in place. I found it easier to assemble up here in the bed, rather than assemble on the floor and lift a large U in place in the bed:

    20191223_175820.jpg

The last part that was not so clear in the instructions for me, was to use a packing piece as a shim for measurement. Makes much more sense with a real picture for me than the drawing:

And finally installed with drain tubes:

I had the same problem with the packing shim “guide.” Luckily my son was installing it with me and figured it out. You’ll love that cover. The only mod I had to do was add some d-ring door seal under the rear seal so it wouldn’t leak going though the car wash when the water jets blast it.

How much space do you lose with the canister?

    About 8 to 9 inches.

Not enough for me to complain.

Looks good! That was my second choice as I didn't want to lose the bed space. I went with the MX4.

Shouldn't take you too long to do it. Make sure you have a tape measure as wide as the bed. The other tools are basic.

Looks great! Are these pretty watertight? Thinking of getting rid of my shell and getting one of these. Thanks.

Ran mine through the car wash today. Barely a few drops down the tailgate from the seam. With pressurized water, I'll take that any day.

I installed a Retrax Mx Pro many years ago, I will never own a truck without one again. I get small drips around the tailgate seam in the carwash but it stays bone dry in the rain. It's also a huge plus to be able to safely secure items in the back of the truck and also be able to retract it quickly to move large stuff.
Not proud of this but they're sturdy

How thick are the bed rail cap pieces? All aluminum or steel? I won’t be home for a week or two, but I need to add/modify mine for attach points above the cover. Possibly utilizing the stake pockets... trying to get an idea of what I’m in for on ordering material for the project...

My bed doesn't have stake pockets, and they make a version for those, so make sure you order one for what you need.

I didn’t order with them. But I have a small machine shop in my garage and can do just about what ever is needed. My biggest problem is I’m 1k miles away from the truck at work. So I have to order things to be there when I get home off my 3 week hitch. So I rely heavy on the forum to get ideas and specifications.

Have you had any problems with the rolling mechanism?

I had a Retrax on my 2005 DC.
It rattled like crazy on the highway, I hear they don't rattle anymore.

If y'all wanna class up those drain tubes, I found these parts in the underground sprinkler section of Lowes.
I just pieced together what would work for me...
    Make it pretty....

Do you have a measurement of the space from the bottom of the canister to the truck bed?
