Same with my 2019. I check it once a week and fully expect each week to see a leak. Just rolled over 25,000 and it is bone dry. Fingers crossed.

I will make sure it develops a leak by 5 years or 50k just in case. Good thing is i will get paid to do the job.
Rather reseal it with the black FIPG than wait for the crappy grey sealer to leak

I sm just driving it. If it starts to leak it leaks. Nothing I can do at this point so why worry about it.

Who knows. Mine or ur guys trucks might not leak. I don’t think it’s been that many for Toyota to have a recall anyways

Just tell my service manager its leaking and do the job.
No one wants to do it under warranty cause it doesn't pay great. But i can do it in 4 to 5 hours if left alone and not pulled from the job

Oh gotcha. Didn't know you worked there. You have an advantage on saying "it's leaking" then.

To me its just nuts and bolts and a lot of cleaning. Not rocket science.

My 2017 is coming up on 40,000 miles and is dry from stem to stern at this time.. just put new wipers on it in the garage and got my mag light out to take a close look. Fingers crossed! Haven’t bothered to check my ‘19 yet because it’s sitting in the yard with all my crap in it and the trailer hooked up. I’m not touching that thing until after New Years. I’ll say this - the day I see oil seeping from the cam towers in my 2017 is the day it gets traded in. The ‘19 is a lease so I don’t really care much about that one.

So I checked my 2018 tundra with 30600 miles. I have the grey sealant. Is that bad so there is a high chance mine will leak or what ?

They all have grey sealant from the factory.
Dont know why they use it, for any repairs we dont even stock it. The part number we use is black and is way superior

Ok ya mine is Grey. I know all of them come stock grey. But mine is bone dry front to back on driver and passenger side. And I have 30600 miles. Talked to service advisor to just ask questions. He told me if it doesn’t leak between 30,000 -60,000 miles he said I’m good. Well that crap cause anything can happen anytime ya know.....

My 2008 5.7 Limited is leaking on both sides, I have 125k miles on it. So all these leaks and Toyota can't afford to have a damn gasket made for this area?

I have owned a 2001 Avalon XLS, I still have a 2002 Avalon XLS (170k), sold a 2013 Avalon XLE with Limited and Touring packages installed (28k) Sold my 2005 Tacoma AC TRD/Off-Road 4.0ltr with 111k miles and bought this 2008 from my son-in-law. My daughter drives a 2007 Avalon XLS, and has had a Camry and Corolla, we are a Toyota family, but this issue going on so long is tough to stomach.

I will be calling Toyota but a 2008 probably doesn't stand a chance in Hell. I am right at retirement and the cost of the repair is not feasible.

Unfortunately toyota would not help mine. Its 9 years old. I did exspress my concerns and pushed issue very hard. No help. Talked to buddy who works at toyota in Florida. He is a master mechanic. Told me same if it was maybe 5 years or newer they may have helped.I should have kept my carshield haha

50K on my 2016 and no leaks here. Good info on this thread I will keep an eye out, luckily I have the certified used warranty and I assume that would cover this issue?

My truck is a 2019, with 6k miles. When I shut it off in the garage after driving anything over 15 miles it smells like burning oil.

    do y’all see anything?

Ya bro it’s all dry. When I first bought my 2018 tundra, I smelt a smell for about 3 months and it smelt like hydraulic oil. I know that sounds weird but that’s what I smelt. And now I don’t smell a dam thing. I’ve been checking my driver passenger side for about a month now for the same issue. Fingers crossed I don’t run into that issue I have 31,000 miles already

My 2013 with 110k is going in for a reseal next week. I bought it CPO and also bought the platinum extended warranty good to 125k. I've been kicking myself the past 4 years for pissing away $1900 on that extended warranty because "it's a Toyota, so it's bullet-proof." Obviously I'm very glad I bought it now. Has anyone had a recurrence of the problem after initial reseal? I'm planning to keep the truck a while and would appreciate a heads-up if it's a recurrent problem.
