Not worried about that... it’s for when I am driving through the pasture and hog hunting.

    I bet I am not......
Guys I asked about mounting options not your opinion on gun laws.

    Texas
has no laws regarding the carrying of long guns (rifles or shotguns) in motor vehicles. Texas does not require a person to have a valid handgun license in order to carry a loaded handgun in a motor vehicle or watercraft if the vehicle is owned by the person or under the person's control.

You have my post confused. I am saying that I bet in the majority of states you CAN carry it like that. I was replying to the person who said you couldn't. Look at my location, we have far less gun laws than you do.

    I'm working on this one.
I use these to transport from house to range or buddies for repair or upgrades.
    I legally transport them.
I use these rifles, shotguns and pistols for recreation, hunting, and defense.

    Good topic.

    I like that.
I am hoping someone can make a mount where I can take off the grab handles and I can mount a gun rack to that.

For our trucks it seems the easiest access that's marginally secure is the rear seat frame mount or roof mount.
If you have the model without the center console you might have additional options.

Now you've done it... Got me thinking about doing something similar. I normally just throw my AR and range bag on the floor of the back seat and head out to the range or sand pit and think nothing of it. But it would be even better to have it in a secure locking device. It might even allow me to keep it in my truck long term. I wish the rear seat backs folded down like the earlier Tundras, I think that would be a good spot as well.

Found it for Tacoma, and it sounds like they’re going to make some for a Tundras...Meso Customs

Looks functional. Fortunately, I don't have any Afghanistan, Pakistan, Syria, Iraq, North or Central Africa trips planned presently that will require my Tundra to be transported.

    Wow......

I realize you may not have much worth in the "Bushie," I would hope you would be concerned about what would be done with it if it were stolen since it is yours to secure?

What is the additional piece the gun mount is attached to? I have the magnetic slide holder and would like to mimic your setup.

The bracket (2" × 1/8 flat bar) is bolted to the dash framework, I cut the mounting holes off the Phantom magnetic quick draw and epoxied it to the bracket.

I do have a another way to use the same phantom mount in a different location in my head but need to find time to make it up.

In Utah you can leave it on your hip without a permit. Just saying.
