    I am considering buying a 2008 4.7 Tundra with the tow package. Will be pulling a 3500 lb camper. And hauling about 700 lbs in the truck. Am I going to be ok? Would appreciate your feedback.

    Is the 700 lbs including passengers?

    Towing mountains?

    276 hp is ok, but have 381 hp is where I would want to be.

    Other issues is the 4.7L has timing belt maintenance.

    I would go with the 5.7 not much difference in gas mileage

    Passengers would add about 300 lbs. Mountains......not the Rockies but the Smoky Mountains.

    You'd be just fine if you aren't going through the mountains. That'll be about 5k lbs. tow package is a must with that weight and engine. Honestly though, I'd go with a 5.7 just for peace of mind.

    i towed about 4K - 5k between Baton Rouge and Memphis a few times with no problems. That's very small grades and mostly flat roads. I wouldn't want to hit the mountains with that weight.

    I thought you had the 4.6L Law....which has better numbers than the 4.7L for sure.

    I do. And it did great towing 5K. Barely knew it was back there but still wouldn't want to hit the mountains with that weight. Of course I have bigger and heavier tires than stock. (Went from a 31 P rated highway tire to a 33 LT all terrain tire)
    I'm betting if I still had stockies, I wouldn't have any problems going through mountains.
