In SC I just paid $302 on my 2007 Tundra ... Honestly, I don't mind other than the fact that infrastructure down here SUCKS and the new schools they are building with our property taxes looks like miniature taj mahals but has poorly paid teachers.

In SC property taxes are paid along with the registration

Around $80.00 for one year here in Virginia. My taxes are $750, but that’s not part of the registration here, it’s paid to the county you live in.

$600 here on Oahu and ours isn’t age based at all. What that means is that it never goes down. But You bet your ass it goes up every year they raise the tax.

I think it’s like $50-$60 for 2 years here. Our roads are pretty damn good too.

I don’t see why people ever vote to raise taxes. It never works out the way they expect it will. The state literally Nickel and Dimes you until next thing you know there’s a $.75 tax on each gallon of gas. All that extra road money never makes it to the normie section of town.

Virginia has gone full California in so many circles... I fear that state is lost.
These high vehicle tags almost always coexist with high tax rates for everything else.
NY had such a bad exodus they tried to tax former residents even within the next year!

We are out of California as soon as youngest is out of college. For those worried about the Californians that are leaving..
DONT. We like less taxes, not more.

    1000 dollars is pure anarchy.

So it looks like several other states have a way of sticking it to ya. I had no idea. Virginia may be the worst. I pay $46/year for Registration. Plus there is a city/county sticker "fee" of around $30. They used to give you a colorful sticker for your $30, but now it's just a fee. However, we also have to pay Personal Property Tax every single f'ing year. The Tundra alone is almost $1000. Then add in our other vehicles and a boat and I feel like personally slapping my check to our Governor's forehead.

Damn. I'm in northern Alabama. I can't recall exactly but I'm thinking the 2019 Tundra here was $160ish.

Hold the Line! If you are not holding the line, abandon your ship. Destruction is inevitable without more to hold the line!
$48 a year in Oklahoma, it was $78, when the truck was under 10 years of age.

I'll say that certain rural Californians share your disappointment with high registration costs AND it's affiliated "issues"

$200 for 2-year tags in AK. Outside the MATSU borough you can get a lifetime tag for $100. of course there are limited roads there. Dirt paths, really. Overgrown and inhabited by moose. And drunk fly-in hunters from Indiana.

Yes. And I’m sitting 500 yards from where he worked.

That’s how a tax increase is sold to voters. And yet the paving never happens.

We thankfully still don’t have an income tax. But the money is “received”one way or another.

It was over $700 in WA state this month. $521 of that was for the Regional Transit Authority (RTA) tax which funds mass transit (new light rail, along with new commuter rail and bus lines) in Pierce, King, and Snohomish counties (I voted against this in 2017 but it passed).

However, I found out that if you have a truck which weighs over 6,000 lbs you're exempt from paying the RTA tax each year. https://www.dol.wa.gov/vehicleregistration/rta.html

Had to take it to a certified scale and it was well over 6k then back to the DOL to update the weight on the registration.

Filled out the form for my refund...and now I wait. But not having to pay the RTA tax each year on my registration will make it a lot less painful.

Suggest all you WA state folks who get hit up for the RTA tax look into getting your rig weighed.

That's pretty much like Adam's County breakdown too. Defines nickel and dime...although some counties are fairly reasonable here with registration add ons, I just don't happen to live in one.

Same here Matt. First registration on the truck was 1400.00.
You should have seen the corvette registration fees. 3600.00 if I remember correctly.
