$340 on my 14. Taxes can only be voted on by state resident voters but state legislators can vote to assess "fees" to be tacked onto registration.

Puke? I'd be thrilled. My 2002 was up for registration when I sold it. $236 or so for a 17 year old truck. It was $715 a couple of weeks ago for my '19 which included a 'weight tax' (yea insult to injury). Welcome to CA, how do you like your ankles...

Do like so many of the transplants around here. Move to CO and keep driving on your expired plates from your home state. Doesn’t cost a dime to drive around CO on 3 year old Texas or Ohio plates.

$150 per year here in AB. I'd rather pay that than deal with ICBC. It's nice not having a government insurance monopoly in AB. My insurance rates are 50% less here.

No excise tax in Iowa, my 500 bucks I'd for 12 month registration. Gas tax is 30 cents a gallon. Registration fees go into road use fund.

When I was in Missouri the tabs were pretty cheap, think it was about $60 year. But you couldn't get them until you showed your paid personal property tax receipts. Yes, assessment was made on all your rigs and it the levies were the same as your house. I think I was paying about 900 for the tundra last year. Paid 9.5% sales tax when I bought it. Screw that state. So glad I left.

I lied. That was for annual personal property tax, not registration. I don’t remember what registration was. Nowhere near that.

Its no surprise to me that the highest rates are in certain areas on opposite coasts, and Flyover Country seems to get it mostly right. When i bought my 19 at the end of August i paid cash and had to pay over $2000.00 in sales taxes, then a few weeks later received an additional bill for $350.00 in excise for just the remaining 4 Months of the year. We all get screwed one way or another, that we can probably all agree on.

I thought rates were high until I read how much it cost out in California and other places. Wow! Plus the cost of gas per gallon?! I paid $81.55/yr and unleaded fuel has averaged about $2.25-2.499 a gallon out here in New Mexico. I’ll consider myself pretty lucky for now.

Are your big cities like ours? Here in CA we get a lot for our higher taxes. Tons of homeless, quickly rising crime rates, and nearly zero new infrastructure

If I wanted paved roads I wouldn't have bought a truck.

Every state should have a toll highway for those who want to pay, and right next to it, an unpaved dirt track that anyone can use for free. I'd rather put the money into tires and shocks than taxes.
