So I have the method NV 305 in a 20x9. I’m looking at black rhino armory wheels. I see 2 differences. The black rhino are 20x9.5 and offset is 12. Offset for the method are 25. My question is what would the difference do on my truck. Will the wheel stick out further or so on?
Pictures and specs included. Also let me know what would look better on my truck.

This says that the outside lip of the wheel will be 3/4” further out.

So, you really DO want to sell your rims.:D

I LOVE the Black Rhino you've chosen: coincidentally, I have it picked out as my next rim, unless I decide to powdercoat my existing rims quicksand.:monocle:

I have over 3 grand I am planning on spending in June on my truck, so changing my perfectly good rims is not high on my list right now.

But I love your taste, Sir.

P.S. I have a + 18 offset right now: nothing wrong with it, but I'd prefer the +12.

    DO IT!:bananadance:

IF I buy the black rhinos then yes I will be selling the methods. Just trying to figure out how much more they will be out as I already have fender flares but don’t want this thing sticking out a lot more

Mr. Discount Tire guy...I was looking at some solid rims years ago for a previous truck and my local DT rep said solid rims are not good for disc brakes because it reduces the airflow needed for cooling. Any truth to that? If so, the Black Rhino wheels the OP posted above may not be good right?

The reality is taking 13mm less offset will bring wheel in .5 inch. Accounting for a .5 in wider wheel your "poke" should stay relatively the same.

Edited to add that, applies if the half inch you gain is all to the outside.

In all honesty, I’m not sure. That’s a question for a brake engineer.
I’ve sold plenty of the Armory’s though. No complaints.

I'm not a brake engineer, but I have experience with overheating brakes due to lack of ventilation, during aggressive driving conditions (downhill racing, Autocross, Time Trials, etc.)

Normal driving conditions for the Taco, should be fine, but brake ducts and scoops, upgrade rotors with slotted and cross drilled ones will definitely help. Now, for the heavier Tundra's, carrying heavy payloads and towing. I think they will experience premature warping of their rotors and slight brake fade. No late braking and plan trips with heavy loads going downhill.

@fisherman951 here is a pic of mine to show how much more it sticks out. Theses are with 275/70 18. And also another pic of the armory on a tundra that helped me decide on Arsenal.

Way too heavy to me. There’s 20" scs wheels weighing around 29lbs and the 17” rw at 26lbs each.

Or just don’t think too much about it and go with it. Haha

I did a little bit of research on it before I bought them. Mostly because someone mentioned it on one of these threads. I didn’t really find anything conclusive (or at least conclusive enough for me for the driving I do). I tow a small teardrop. It seems it matters on race cars and auto cross where people brake a lot in short distances.

    my uneducated thoughts on this

    1. There are plenty of closed wheels on the market. I’m sure there would be more evidence to be found if it was a problem

    2. black rhino seems to be a big company if people started dying because of their products we would find out (I’m hoping I’m not the first to test that theory)

    3. How much air is being pulled in through the “stock rim” itself. Is the area high pressure or low pressure, is it a vacuum from inside to out or outside to in. Does no air at all go through the rim and cooling is just caused by pulling air from behind the wheel? Anyway these are questions I can’t answer. If I start noticing problems I will post and probably add drilled/slotted and maybe put some ducting under front bumper(but that again brings up the question of how high a pressure area is it and will it make a difference

long story short. I like the look of the rims. I don’t think it will cause overheating (I could be wrong). The limited towing I do is with a 1,500 lbs trailer.

The Armory wheel is .5" wider and the offset is lower by 13mm compared to your current method wheels.

Half the .5" will result in .25" sticking out more just on the width alone. Then add in the 13mm from the offset change (13mm is a hair over .5") results in a wheel/tire that'll stick out approximately .75" more than what you have now.

This is a fun tool to use and visualize the change - A little added imagery to show how offset affects your wheel positioning.
The lower the offset the further the wheel and tire will stick out.

I think those wheels would just be heavy, then again any faux beadlock tends to be heavy from all the extra bolts. I would probably stick with the methods since you already have them, but if you come to a point of being due for new tires and feel like a change in flavor, maybe switch wheels then.
