Future Tundra Purchase- Gathering Parts

Hello: Rob from Pgh. PA Waiting on the sale of my 2012 Honda Ridgeline Sport Black, Refuse to trade it in!!! Looking to buy a NEW Tundra SR5 Double Cab with the 5.7, TRD Package, SR5 upgrade package, and the Safety Package. I have bought a used bed liner, steel wheels. looking to buy Weather Tech floor mats, window vents, TRD PRO Grill, Replace the front bumper chrome corners, and improve the headlights, and suggestion from current owner would be GREAT, Thanks in advance !!!

 

I prefer the Husky Liners.

 

Check Craigslist, I have seen some used floor liners for very reasonable prices. They're just going to get dirty anyways. I bought new husky liners, but wish I looked on cr first, would have saved 50%.

 

I have Weather Tech in my Honda!!! what is your feedback on them!!

I can't wait to get my Tundra, but the Chrome has to go!!!

 

Check out the max liner floor mats, thicker and cheaper than weather tech. They also cover more areas than weather tech

 

I have them in my SUV and husky in my tundra. I know there are guys with strong opinions here, but both have worked fine for me. Some say one is better than the other as far as how high they cover up the sidewalls and dead pedal. Only someone who has purchased both for the tundra can say for sure.

 

I like the high sides on my weather tech mats in my Honda, never had husky

 

Do a search about tpms sensors on tundras, they have to get programmed to the truck each time you swap them out (for instance switching from winter setup). You can't just throw them on. Our trucks won't "learn" the new sensors by themselves. Have to have the dealer or a tire place with the right programmers to do it or buy a programmer yourself. It's a pain, so I drive with the tpms light on with my winter setup. It has sensors, but don't feel like paying to have the sensors programmed twice a year.

 

I have Husky Weatherbeaters in the front and WeatherTech in the back of my CrewMax. When I made the purchase that was the best combo for coverage in my opinion.

I have used WestherTech for a long time, this is my first purchase with Husky and I am really impressed. It all comes down to each design for each specific make/model though.

For headlights, if you really want improved performance the only way to go is a retrofit. With a retrofit you can get bright HID bulbs in a projector designed for HID bulbs, the beam pattern will be controlled and excellent.

HID or LED bulbs in our OEM housing is like driving with your high beams on. You could literally just drive with your high beams on and save the money, because it will look the same to oncoming drivers.

I'm curious how you liked your Ridgeline for everyday driving? I may be looking for an older SUV/truck commuter and have seen some older Ridgelines at good prices. I would still have the Tundra for towing, etc.

Glad you liked the Ridgeline. The Tundra is a beast, but some car trailers are pretty big/heavy.

@ColoradoTJ was pulling a rock crawler with his Tundra and switched to a GMC Deisel for better towing. Just curious how often will you be towing and how heavy is the car trailer?

 

trailers 1500-2000lbs, car under 3500lbs 6 times a year, towing car shells to body shop, 1000 lbs + trailer

 

yeah, max tow 5500- 6000 max
