What is the opinions on this? A friend of mine has a 2015 PRO and swears the floor mounted shifter with the bucket seats is the way to go, and the column shift is lame. The only 3rd gen I have driven so far was a column shift model so I don't have anything to compare it to. I guess the point of this question is, is it worth the additional cost to get the SR5 upgrade package that comes with bucket seats and the center floor mounted shifter?

If you don't need 6 seats, get the SR5 upgrade package. The seats are more comfortable, and I believe the driver side is a power seat and has telescoping wheel along with an alarm, auto dimming mirror and the home link garage door button.

This question has been asked before and I'm sure most will side with the floor shifter. I feel that there are reasons for each to buy whichever they feel the need for. One doesn't necessarily make one better than the other. Most importantly I'm glad Toyota gave us the ability to choose one or the other.

Man when I bought my truck; the Command Master Chief had only one request, she on a insisted bench seat so she could ride right next to me all Bud and Sissy style! So I got a SR5 4X4 Bench seat column shifter! The arm rest is ridiculously huge..But y'all know the phrase..Happy wife Happy life!

I don't mind either. My Chevy Van in my twenties had column shifter and My Tundra has a floor shifter. Actually when I was shopping for a Tundra, I wanted a 6 seater (we are a 6-member family). I had to settle for a floor shifter because I had a limited time to buy one and I could not find one with a floor shifter (6 seater).

Floor shifter comes with a convenient hand-rest. Without a floor shifter, where ya' gonna put your right hand when you're not using it?

The console shifter option is what more buyers of trucks, any truck, want these days, so for resale I say console shifter..if you want to hold your GF and occupy your right hand, column shifter with bench seat, just saying

I love the floor shifter in mine, my 1st gen was column. Way sportier feel. Only drawback is that my work truck is column, so when I get in the tundra I find myself reaching for the column. My first car was a three on the tree 63 rambler, stupid thing would always jamb up, so I put a Hearst floor shifter in it. Even though the shift pattern came out backwards it was way better.

Floor shifter for sure. My 2016 GMC 2500 is a column shifter and it just feels so "basic".

Honey cuddles. The #1 reason to get (or not to get) a column shifter.

I have a column shifter. Have gotten used to it, and it frees up space in the front for an extra middle seat. I still think the floor shifter is better though.

I forgot about this post so I will answer my own question for anyone wondering. I ended up getting a TRD pro so I by default got the floor shifter and bucket seats. I have not regretted it for a second. The massive center console is super handy to have and I got a console vault so I use that space much more than I would a middle seat.

No sir, this is not my territory.

But, column is obviously superior. Trucks are limited on space as is, so freeing up console space is just the way to go. Then you get a full length console full of storage.

    Your friend is wrong...

I drove the floor shift version first, and then I purchased the standard version.

Do you want 5 seats or 6? If a limited could be had with a column shifter and kept the other trim features, I wouldn’t have hesitated to get a column shifter.

wife enforced 6-7 seats... So either a sequoia or tundra...

If they had a limited with 6 seats no hesitation... In the end, got the sr5 then swapped in an electric drivers seat.
