Yes, I searched, but I’ve read there’s better OEM LBJ’s on a few posts so it’s making me second guess whether I’m getting the right parts. So...

Ordering the parts to do my LBJ’s, can anyone confirm if I have the correct part numbers and if I need any additional parts since I’ll be down there? Also, is $120.23 each a good price?

Here is a kit number for both which is what Toyota used when they did the recall on mine. Check with @Roman to make sure this will work for you though...

Crap, are we supposed to stick with OEM on the LBJ's too??? I replaced my passenger side 2 years ago since it was metal on metal when turning and figured I'd just order the driver's side as well since I was at it. Was actually planning on replacing the driver's side today cause I had the part. Passenger sides been without issues though so far.

 

Do you remember what brand you used! I think a couple after market ones are decent like moog and TRW

 

From everything I’ve read, and anyone can feel free to correct me, that OEM recall kit is the best option. Definitely try to avoid aftermarket LBJ’s. UBJ’s are a little different from what I understand, but I’d stick with OEM unless upgrading to entirely new UCA’s.

 

Guess I’ll keep that part number handy if these fail.

I believe they are pro forged and were rated better than the Moog so I did it. Good thing it’s a pretty simple part to replace though.

 

Yes. It's a strong belief here that only OEM LBJ's should be used. Many aftermarket units fail after few miles. Can be mucho dangerous too.

That's my understanding. I messaged Roman with Cool Springs Toyota to confirm, I'll write back on here once I hear from him.

 

I just purchased it from them assuming it was both so we’ll find out once I get the LBJ’(s) sent to me.

Yes, it's both. Sorry, I misunderstood. I was confirming that the part number was correct for my '06 DC. Roman wrote back and confirmed so you should be good to go.

Thanks for this, ordered the kit. By the way the cheapest online dealer I have found is McGeorge Toyota, they usually beat everyone's price on everything.

 

And shipping. There are some other cheaper dealers but then they want twice or three times the price on shipping! So annoying.

My search also shows this as well. Has anyone looked at ebay, they usually offer free shipping.

 

Thanks for the heads up, looks like McGeorge has me at $199 total with shipping, Cool Springs has me at $201 with shipping. Being in Texas gets me with shipping from both of them. My local Toyota has them for $240 online with pickup, $340 if I buy at the counter and pickup - crazy.

I quit buying moog suspension and steering parts when I opened the package of a LBJ and it was stamped "555" which is a Chinese manufacturer. I also bent an outer tie rod by hitting a curb at less than 10 mph.
Now I will only use OEM Toyota only for ball joints and tie rods.

 

I thought I read (might of been this forum) that 555 was good to go?

 

Yes, I also thought that “555” was good and is associated with sankei which is a Japanese company.

 

Just received them this morning and it is confirmed that it is both right and left ball joints in this kit!

 

I notice only the 2006 & 05 1st gen owners are interested with the 04006-62134 kit.
Is this kit for all of 1st generation trks, or just for the later years of 1st gen?

 

The kit was to satisfy a recall...but I don't see why it wouldn't work on earlier Tundras if they have the same individual lbj part #s as the 2005-2006 Tundras. It should easy enough to confirm on a Toyota parts website.

 

But there was not a set of castle nuts and cotter pins... what is the part # for those?
