    Hello all-
Let me start off saying that I love my truck. Just bought my son a 2001 Taco 4x4 2 weeks ago and used to all of my own stereos back in the 80's-90's.
This weekend I decided to hard wire my Escort 360 max into the truck, a 2019 Tundra Crew Max Pro. I pulled the mirror, sunglasses holder, and the radar for cruise control cover off. I found the red wire that was hot by the ignition and hooked it up, grounded it with the bundle of white wires with black stripe. I then wrapped everything up with electrical tape. I turned it the ignition on and got an orange triangle on my gauge cluster stating radar not working, panicked for a moment and then realized that I had not hooked the harness back up. I plugged it in and all worked perfectly, until coming home tonight i noticed that I could not push the light stalk forward and activate my bright lights. I can pull the stalk and they come on, I can turn the truck off and push the stalk forward and the brights come on. Have no idea.... Nothing was cut, nothing was broken.....

Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. I should of just paid the $40 to have it installed..... It does look great under the mirror though.

added pictures of new Taco and my Tundra

Ripping all that up is wayyyy unnecessary

Any idea on the bright headlight issue? Where does the "mirror tap" tap into? I assume the mirror but where? I found one on Amazon for a bmw, is there a tundra specific one?

I did the mirror tap for my Uniden Radar detector. You can find them on the Blendmount site. The connections are to the back of the jack that plugs into the mirror. You basically piggy back on those wires - you just need the correct two.

You have auto high beams, so if you jacked up something with the front facing safety camera it's possible that it's getting overridden by the auto switch. Try turning that off (lower left of the steering wheel) and see if that changes anything.

Do you have auto dim high beans? If yes, turn it off and repeat experiment.

The mirror tap is radar detector specific, not vehicle specific. From mirrortap.com Mtx-1015 is the part number that you need for your Escort. Google to see if you can find it cheaper though.

Ok, I do have the auto dimmer. Shut that off and everything worked. Thanks once again for the help.

I found and ordered the mirror tap on Amazon for the escort for $18.99.
