Rear seat back fold down?

Just purchased a 3rd gen Tundra.

Came from a 2nd gen where the backs of the rear seat folded down allowing storage access behind.

Anyone come up with some type of hack to get the rear seat backs to move to allow access?

 

Only for a DC

 

Dude...how did you get these to release to fold down like this?! Sweet....

Ditto! I’m a moron apparently but can’t figure out how to fold the back down on my double cab. Please share your secret(s) with pictures! Thanks!

Coming from a 2nd gen I didn't even think that this 3rd gen would not have access to the rear of the seats. It was something that I didn't even think about until someone asked me if the rears still were able to lean back. That's when it all hit me.

Really surprised no one has come up with a mod for this.

 

Yeah I think they went backwards by not allowing the seats to fold down.
I want a 14+ because of the better dash setup but would rather keep my fold down rear seats.

 

Just wanted to make sure you read my earlier post - there are a couple of mods for this on the 3rd gen DC.

 

I did, but looking for a mod for my CM.

 

Understood - apparently it’s not possible on the CM. The rear seat on my F-150 SuperCrew would fold down but it wasn’t obvious how to do it and was a major PITA.

 

I plan on installing a stealth box back there soon so I'm going to have a look see myself.

 

I just finished doing this mod and it works great. I decided to remove the hooks of the back of the seat and cut them. The reason I didn't bend the tabs down on the back of the panel is because I have a rear slider and didn't want the headrests interfering with the glass. It was easy just to remove the seat hooks and modify them. I took of about 1" and it works perfect.

 

Is that a Crew Max?

 

Its sad how much room is behind the rear seat on the Crewmax just wasting...ugh

 

Nope, 2020 double cab. From what I read it doesn't work on the crew.

 

I wish it came standard for CM!

 

It was standard in my 2011 Tundra. . I totaled that truck, and had i known the 17 CM seats didn't fold down, I probably would have passed on the Tundra. It sucks not having that option when you had it in the past. I did install the ESP box, but it isn't the same as having all that space and flat surface when you need it. Not to mention that for passengers the reclining backseats were awesome on long road trips to the hunting lease or fishing trip

 

Damn you sound like me. Totaled a 2010 and here I am with a '15.

 

Is there a better way to unlatch the middle seatbelt than prying a screwdriver into the side of the buckle? I feel like there should be an easier way

 

I haven't tried, but I suspect the ignition key would work.

 

On mine there is no actual slot to insert anything. I had to pry the cover apart and unlatch it
