What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Considered getting some new floor mats. The ones I have had for 9 years haven't worn a bit but they have always been too skinny, I have about 4" of carpet betwixt the mat and the door sill.

I read a lot of Husky mats have complaints that they catch your feet on entry, that would bother my wife. I'm not looking to throw a hundo down on weathertech after the ones in my GTI got a hole within 2 years. Going to measure my mats and maybe check out the BFG mats at Autozone to see if they have the coverage I want.

Here are my weathertech in my GTI. Holes like this are not covered in the lifetime warranty. You can also see where my gas foot side is worn down too, a shame because I like the fit and feel.

I catch my foot on the huskies in the 4runner, but they are good. I got weathertech during a group buy, I’m not even impressed. The bottoms don’t have the lil pricks that seat into the carpet; therefore they slide all over during use.

 

I've heard the same thing. But I've also heard people like the Husky mats for our trucks. They have 2 types, a semi custom fit and an exact fit. I wonder if both have the issue with making your foot get caught.

I still have the OEM Toyota rubber mats. The driver side has cracked which sucks because they are great otherwise.

The little grab feet don't help. It still moves and destroy the carpet. I'm not too impressed with their vent visors either. They used to be the go to, now I won't get anything else of theirs.

 

I did. I thought. Summer time it was full with engine running. Now with colder temps not so. Crawled under and no leaks which is good. Coolant looks good so not losing it there. I’m caulking it up to high temps expansion.

 

My Toy OEM mats wore a few cracks on the drivers side over the years. Last year I cleaned them up real good and put some Gorilla Tape on the bottom as a backer. Loaded up the cracks with Fuze. Once dry, I sprayed them with Rustoleum Bed Liner which made them look brand new and firmed them up as well. @Darkness

 

Project Zzzzttt! is a success. Better light than I had imagined. Well worth about $20 in materials and 4 hours labor. I post up more install work pics at later times.

 

That's actually not a bad idea. Question, on your Fuze tubes, are you able to store these very long? I just tried to use my Fuze squeeze tube today and it ruptured out the back. I bought it in May. Anytime I buy any sort of caulking I only get to use it once. When I go to use it later it's always got some sort of issue. Just didn't know if you found a way to store these.

 

I twist a screw down into the tip pretty far and then pump it lightly for storage. Use a screw driver or drill to back it out when ready to re-use. Sometimes I have to remove the tip off the caulk tube (it unscrews) and access tip cleaning that way. Usually if you keep the tip cut small and drive a screw down in there you are good to go.

 

I use a roofing nail. big head makes it easy to pull out. insert nail, pump up, re-use next time.

There's some nifty plastic caps available at most hardware stores for a buck or two that work great. They have a plastic needle inside and a cone that covers the tip.

 

Yeah thats a good idea. I'll do that. I used an old drill bit to clear it out today but when I tried to squeeze the tube it ruptured in the back and became useless. Bummer. I'll pick up another tube.

 

Nice work. I'm trying to fix all my lights to a photosensor so they only turn on after dark.

This was a pretty easy mod too for some extra lighting.

 

You can remove the tip and ream that tube outlet real good to open it up, as well. Key is not leaving an air pocket in the tip.

 

I thought Husky stopped making their liners for the first Gen Tundras?? If so maybe take a look on eBay for new old stock.

I really like my Husky liners but you do have to pay attention to the lip on entry.
That said I would go after the Lund Liners. A friend of mine has them and he swears by them.

 

Tundra on call. Same building, different Dom water leak, same fix; a permanent fix, rubber and a hose clamp. We’ve pulled sections of pipe out during remodels with 75+ hose clamps/rubber. It’s what we do!

Got the MAF sensor and throttle body all cleaned up and then took it to the wash. 145K miles and feelin’ good.

That’s how we roll, instructed by the supervisor. Valves don’t hold, when we do a shut down to repair leaks, cut out a section, couple in a new one..... next week it’s leaking 2” away from that coupling. Most of the time it’s nice because there’s an acces panel from the last leak, not this time. It’s super dumb and when I first started I laughed at the permanent repair method, but I do what I’m told, and apparently it works. We’ve never had one leak again from the same bandaid.

 

I'm lost, you're using hose clamps instead of soldering?

 

Haha I’m lost with you. I can solder or braise anything you put in front of me, including the backside of a loop thru the hole on the front side where the sharp object pierced, then close the front side and braise it closed. We also get charged internally for “burn permits” which take multiple days to obtain. The old clamp it with some rubber, is what we’ve been doing for a while. Easy money for me when I’m on call. I’ve even set up a hose clamp and rubber station at the key box, for easy access.

 

I've used shark bites in tight spots, Baker couplers where no other choice could be made, but never rubber and a hose clamp.
if it works I guess it pays.

 

How's the install on that 4900? Easy peasy lemon squeezy or Difficult difficult lemon difficult?
