Damn. That was what mine looked like too. That and where the pain was is what made him think he was gonna be doing surgeries to clean it all up. Then the MRIs shows that my knees were great.

Given that yours is from an actual injury, I am not gonna hold my breath for you lucking out. I will cross my fingers and pray for you, though.

I'm in the same position with my shoulder. Hurt it about 9 years ago when I was a tree climber, and got caught in the rope after toping the tree. Let it heal on its own, but it's always had a twinge, the the past 2 years it's been progressively worse, but I'm too much of a wuss to see a Dr.

I’m well aware, but I still do it on the side for select people. Push through the issues with the shoulder because I can’t afford to be laid up for any amount of time
I’m just glad the ropes got me and not the saw

Damn, you used to do that? Those dudes are crazy. I just had a 40' + tree cut down in my back yard with very limited room and no access other than a 3' gate. I was beyond impressed. Not cheap either.

Yeah, I did it before the era of smartphones, so I don't really have any photos. I try to avoid climbing now, I prefer to just take the jobs I can lay them down with a good bore cut and a couple wedges.

not sure of the strength in that type of tree, but lots of forks to run the ropes through. Never used a bucket truck. All we did was rope work, used an old man killer chipper without any of the safeties the new ones have

It was a crew of 4 or 5 guys. They couldn't get a crane to help, no crane operators would take the job, too tall, too close to the house, etc., etc, so they just did it the old fashioned way. It was a eucalyptus "widowmaker".

I’ve had some tough ones, one job we mounted a car battery and winch about 30 ft up the tree to pull a leader back from the roof of the house. It was a 30” oak leader about 2 inches from the roof edge. No room to let it drop at all. We pulled it off.
