Wife wants to get me an exhaust system for my Tundra. She had talked with a guy at 4WP and picked out this one:

    https://www.4wheelparts.com/p/magna...CbIyUCbXDTKIp-wdYiiKxpa223DSvZP5tfx6Aq5DGgKuU

It seems awesome, but just wanted to get everyone's opinion. I dont know all that much about exhausts so just wanted to see if it's the best option or what other options are out there before going forward. Thanks..!

DirtyDeeds, only way to go! Give them a call, tell them what you are looking for out of an exhaust and they will build it and will stand behind it. I have their 6" and love it!

Patiently waiting on my @dirtydeeds exhaust.
I recommend reading through the Dirty Deeds group buy thread. You’ll see just how many people prefer/recommend them for their Tundras

    Thanks for the mentions guys.

to the OP. The reason everybody is recommend me is because I can make literally anything. I won’t ‘sell’ you something. I consult over the phone to help figure out your use of the truck, and the perfect exhaust configuration to compliment your use of it.

then I custom build the system in our fixture. Paint it. Ship it. You take it out of the box and bolt it on using simple hand tools.

either way it’s well worth a call.

Keith is the ONLY option for Tundra exhaust.
I've had 2 of his mufflers.
Thing with BAM is this, if you don't like what you bought (too loud or not loud enough), he will exchange it.
You just have to pay shipping both ways, you're not gonna get that from Borla, Magnaflow, or anyone else.
I did that and I'm very happy with my 10" after exchanging my 7".
I also use his Helmholtz resonator.

Call him and discuss your needs and wants, and he will build you the best Tundra exhaust system money can buy..

I like the TRD dual exhaust on my truck. However, if was to do it again would either go with Corsa or Borla.

So because I'm clueless on this stuff, what's the big difference in the Aluminized steel and Stainless steel in these? I'm assuming less rust issues and such. Living in San Antonio, it's pretty dry here, no salt issues to worry about. Think the Aluminized would be fine for the long haul?

Found a local place that my father in law used to work with in the car business. Said he can do a Magnaflow SS muffler, pipe, installed for $350, plus the cost of whatever tips I wanted and tax. Lot better than $1,300, ha.

Our trucks are different from ‘regular vehicles’

the exhaust shop is great craftsmanship and quality I’m sure, if they come with high regards for a family members.

That said, it’s easier to screw up a tundra exhaust than it is to make it better. If low end torque and drone free sound is important to you, we can make a system thst is not a guess. Your custom system built just for you will be based on the experience of building literally thousands of custom tundra exhaust systems.

I’m not tryin to sell ya brotha. I’m trying to save you money in the long run.

I dont really know what I want which is most of the reason why I haven't done an exhaust yet. Too many options, from "high end $" to I'm not really sure what I'm getting. So I dont want to spend a lot of money, not knowing what it will be like or if I will even like it and then be stuck with it. So i dunno, frustrated at this point.

    I've been there too.....

What is your price range or price cap? That could be a limiting factor right there.
Do you want loud or just a deeper tone?
What is your tolerance for drone?
Do you want a bolt in option so that you can keep your stock system in tact?
Does the tailpipe exits matter to you - straight back, side exits, dual single side exit, etc...
Does dual exhaust vs single exhaust matter.

Those are the types of questions you can start with to help narrow down your decision.

Well, my wife was going to get me a $1300 system, but I'm not going to let her go that high. I think 1K would be my tops. But like I said on another one, a guy local can do it for $350. Sounds great on price, but who knows what quality.

-A deeper kind of throaty sound, and especially when you get on it.
-Would like little to no drone as possible
-Bolt on would be great, then I could do it myself it looks
-I've gone back and forth on exit. I like the standard single, but I also think the dual straight back would be kick ass.
-Again, dual would be cool, but is it just for looks, or does it actually increase any performance. See previous answer, ha.

Try to find a local Tundra group, join them and see if anyone has different setup so you could possibly meet and listen in person. Before, I would always go to local muffler shop, cut out stock muffler and got them to weld in an aftermarket one. That way, it was cheap and got the sound that I wanted. Doing it that way, you could get drone and possibly lose some power. Even with this current Tundra, I did that. Spent about $350 as well, got a Flowmaster FX put in...lots of drone so I went back and got a resonator put in. After that, incab was good to go with very little noise but I felt it was louder incab than outside so I got them to put the stock back on. Fast forward a couple months and dirtydeeds was running a special and I jumped on it, as I keep hearing great reviews about their system. I was VERY hestitant because I've never spent that much money on an exhaust system but now that I've had it, I won't ever go back. It's the perfect mixture...you get the performance, if you install the resonator, you get drone free and you definitely get the sound! (Depending on what size of course)...either way, I highly recommend you calling Keith and at least talk to him over the phone, it's free advice!

A full bolt on cat-back is going to cost more than having your local exhaust shop cut out the stock muffler and weld a new muffler with pipe extensions in its place. But your stock system is in tact so you can always put the truck back to stock, and you can handle the install of the new exhaust yourself. Plus you may be able to recoup some of your cost on the aftermarket system if you ever decide to return to stock. So that's probably your first decision to make. Bolt on vs modified stock.

1K is a nice budget. TRD dual exhaust is just under $1100 (unless you can find some promos) so that's border line on price. Borla and the 304 SS Corsa and Keith's TRD replacement are going to be higher than that.

Pretty much everything else would be in play. Keith's standard system is definitely something you should consider. It fits your price point and can be built to meet your sound and low drone requirements. Corsa makes a db version which would also fit your price point and low drone requirement. They upsize the tailpipe so you may lose some low end torque - mostly noticed cruising in high gear.

Most of the other systems (magnaflow, flowmaster) will meet your price point and sound objectives, but may drone and lose some low end torque.

I have personal experience with Keith's 8 and 12 inch standard systems on previous Tundra, and have the TRD exhaust on current Tundra - it came with the truck. They are all good. Different volumes and tones. I did go through some growing pains with the TRD, but I'm happy with it now.

I have no personal experience with them. I think they are pretty popular with the Ram trucks. There are a couple threads in the Performance section about Carven - I think some video as well. Seems like a nice piece - 304 SS. Looks like it would be on the loud side.

Yeah, but $1049 after shipping vs $559.99. Makes it hard to spend double for what looks to be the same thing. Hummm...

    Just curious Wes(TTU19),

Have you gone through the Performance Section? There are pages of exhaust threads (various manufacturers), many of which have video and member feedback.

Also, look for the BAMuffler/Dirty Deeds group buys under the Buy/Sell/Trade - Group Buys section. There are 1000s of posts on those threads, and if you start from the last page and work backwards, you'll come across a lot of video of the various BAMufflers.

There's a guy on youtube - Tundradude34 that does daily videos dedicated to the Tundra. If you search on his page, you'll find plenty of video of the TRD exhaust, 8 inch BAMuffler and TRD Replacement.

I'm not steering you toward any product in particular. Exhausts are expensive and subjective, so you have to make the best choice for you. I just want to make sure you knew of the different sources that might help you narrow your search.

The most important question is does your wife have a sister? My wife would never pick out a $1k+ exhaust for my truck. Lucky man!

I have a first gen but I once went the cheap route and got a muffler welded in. It sounded cool for about ten minutes then was just obnoxious. Keith might be more expensive than your local shop but his stuff is tailored.

These just make it difficult because it seems that results have varied from user to user since it has to do with sound and how what is crazy loud to one person, may not be to another. It's all subjective like you said. It's not as easy as changing an appearance piece that looks the same no matter what, ha.

Haha, yeah, she's pretty awesome. That is one concern about the local shop. Just got off the phone with him and everything is welded in. Great I guess, but that means if I dont like it, I'm pretty much screwed after. On top of that, it's not SS. Not sure that I need SS here, but not sure I want to mess with it again later if I have to. So I'm torn. Maybe I'll just tell her to get me a new tv and flush the exhaust idea.
