Yeah it's a pain. There's two types. One installed by the factory and one installed by the dealer. Once you can determine which you need it gets easier. Or just.go on eBay and order the one with the red light and one without and send back the one that doesn't work.

Looks like the journey home took you through a banana slug mating ground - yuck! No offense intended, to each their own, just some especially slimed tires, sir. I did that until I noticed all that slime being spun off onto my wheel wells, etc. Now I apply the slime, wait a couple hours, then lightly wipe off. Just saying...:itllbuffout:

Oh yeah, nice looking truck there. My son and I were talking today about how few banged up Tundras one sees on the road, like zero around my neighborhood and beyond. There's just something about ownership pride that few other vehicles exhibit like our owners. Think about it.

Lol, you should see mine. It's a 20 yarder for sure. No "serious" bodily harm, but full of chips and brush marks and faded. Underside covered in various fluids. Interior is "well used". Oh, and all this talk of pristine beds, I may need to take a pic of mine. No liner at all and was used as a work truck by my general contractor dad for 12 years. Its seen better days...

@Professional Hand Model I'm pretty much in your camp on the idea of using both the plastic bedliner ON TOP OF a paint on bed liner. I'll be waiting until I'm assured of dry weather in July to prep the bed for a brush on liner and waiting for it to cure before putting the plastic liner back on. It will also be the time I redo the paint along the bed rail where I have noticed some bad paint and rust appearing beneath the side rail covers. It is summertime priority #1.

@NUDRAT Absolutely not the case around here. Work trucks around here are the typical American made chunks of iron from Detroit in various conditions from new to dragging body parts down the road. The Tacomas are typically owned by a younger crowd who baby them to some extent, and with most Tundras going with a middle aged owner or older, and used as a means to haul occasional loads from the hardware stores or trash to the landfill. In almost all cases they are well taken care of, possibly a condition brought on by the West Coast car culture one hears of. I remember when I lived back in New Jersey that there were a lot of rat cars on the road, not something you see a lot of here.

Haha no offense taken. I was in too much of a rush to let it dry, but I use CarPro Pearl - it's pricey, but hands down the only tire protectant/shine I've ever found that withstands multiple weeks of rain and dirt trail driving. I dilute it, apply, and let it sit for 10-15 minutes then wipe off the excess. It's also the only one I've found that won't brown the rubber or sling. Go check out Obsessed Garage, he's literally an obsessed car detailer, that's how I found out about Pearl.

And I agree, there's a few 10 footers around here, but truly detailed and straight are tough to find. This one was a garaged one owner owned by an older gentleman that was meticulous about service. I spent a couple days doing a paint correction getting the swirls out so now the paint is getting where I want it. Cheers!

LOL...well, I've been contemplating much of this stuff (and more) since I bought the truck...but I'm so damn tight-fisted I could never pull the trigger. I actually pulled alot of stuff I was going to buy...between that and the CM discounts, I was able to make myself do it....slept poor last night with buyers remorse, but felt better this AM. Posting it here was an attempt to stop myself from cancelling everything but the Stereo stuff...I sold a $30K 2017 Tacoma to buy this Tundra that was just over 1/2 that...so I don't feel too bad...

lol look good from 10 feet, then you get close and see the true story. Can't knock them though, they're reliable trucks and meant to be used like so.

Your post helped with my buyer's guilt haha I wasn't on your level, but I scored quite a few deals for mine. In a similar boat, I sold my '13 Tundra and '97 Powerstroke weekend toy to simplify once I found my '06, but I told the CFO (wife) with all the money I was saving I had to get my '06 up to snuff and it's almost there.

Can't wait to see a picture of those wheels!

Why would you spray the plastic bed liner with bed liner?

I had mine on the same market Craigslist for free for a week before I threw it away and nobody wanted it. $100 is a pipe dream.

I drove my truck in the dark for the first time after doing this...I can't believe how much better the lights work and my lights were not nearly as badly discolored as many I see on the road. Even if this only lasts a year, for $30 and an hour of time (probably 45 minutes now that I've done it before) it was well worth it.

I have tried dealer and non dealer aftermarkets. Thinking I’m just going to buy a used fob and try it

My keyless box came out of an 04 with factory installed keyless

Haha, I had my timing belt break on my Thanksgiving trip, so today I had the belt replaced, along with valve cover gaskets, cam and crankshaft position sensors, and all is well. So blessed that the belt didn’t destroy the engine. This is how we pulled it the 250 miles back home:87D676DC-EF4E-4919-A1C1-973F178F2BA1.jpg520402FF-454F-4BA1-AC51-3A60F6726358.jpg

Congrats on the luck! How many miles and years did the belt have on it?

I’m not 100% sure, I’ve only had the truck a little over a month, and there was no indication of it ever being changed. I went into the purchase knowing that I’d have to do it soon, but not this soon. So I’m assuming it’s the original belt, and the truck has 234,060 miles on it.
