Aftermarket front bumper on 2019 Tundra

y"all I did use the "search" button but cant seem to find the answer Im looking for. I see a lot of y'all with your awesome bumpers and I'm wondering how you get along with the sensors and adaptive cruise control features on the newer Tundras.

I'm interested in either the NFab MRDS, Westin Outlaw or the ADD Venom Baja style bumpers. Other than disabling all the features is there anyway to use these bumpers and keep the stock functionality. Second, is there any front bumpers that would work with these features- for instance I almost pulled the trigger on the Rough Country bc it said it was sensor friendly.
Can any of you newer truck owners tell me what y'all did in your situations? Do yall feel its better to just leave the stock bumper, what are the pros and cons to changing the bumper? Thanks in advance for your insight.

 

The cruise sensor is in the grille and there’s another up by the rear view mirror. Just gotta not block those and you should be fine

 

Thanks Shellshock for the reply, im just confused . Theres nothing in the bumper itself? Why do all the bumpers have a disclaimer saying "not compatible with auto cruise control and bsm sensors". Is this just a legal disclaimer? Im reading(on this forum) that if you install the bumper, you will need to disable certain features.
Can someone with one of these baja style bumpers and a newer Tundra chime in on what if anything you had to do after installing the bumper.

 

A baja style will not carry over bumper mounted sensors which certain systems (not just parking aid) will require feedback from.

 

Rear bumpers have BSM and parking sensors

Unless you have front parking sensors, there’s nothing actually in the front bumper. They are little circles. Everything else is on the front is the grille and windshield.

that's what I thought, I looked today and didn't see any of those cicles on the front bumper. So where is the sensor that does the lane assist? Man this may be great news.....I want to change this stock bumper.

 

I have the Westin Outlaw. Has no impact on the TSS-P system, and the park assist sensors swap in and work fine.

 

Dave that's a sweet bumper! Any regrets going with the Westin? Did you ever consider the NFab, I have read of poor finish (rust) on the NFab.

As long as you don't block the Toyota Emblem in the front grill, with a hoop on the bumper, you will not affect the TSS systems with a bumper swap

 

No regrets other than huge pain in the ass to install/fit proper. Never considered NFab, they look cheap to me, and every one I’ve seen in person rubs the grill.

This is the first time I’ve seen an aftermarket bumper and all of a sudden really wanted one.

I have the ADD Stealth Fighter front and back bumpers. I lost my BSM feature (which I can’t stand and always kept off anyway) but these still have the back-up sensors.

 

I was struggling with this same dilemma. I have an 18 CM that was backed into 2 weeks ago. I figured this was the time to upgrade. I do not have sensors in the bumper but was worried about the adaptive cruise control in the emblem. I also wanted some sort of grille guard. I ended up going with Shrockworks. Just ordered it today. They are 12 weeks out. It will be this exact bumper.

 

So do you always have the annoying light in the dash now? Any chiming or other annoyances? I hate my sensors but my OCD won’t like the dash lights either lol

 

No, you just turn the BSM off, no lights. Ditched my rear BSM also.

Yep, just the one time. I guess it Might be a feature that some really like but I don’t miss it at all.

My Cadillac would vibrate my right or left side of my seat and that was fine, but with the Tundra beeping like crazy it drove me nuts. So yeah, I don’t miss it at all.

 

My new C4 has parking assist mounts and is compatible with the TSS system with the TRD pro grill- hoop is designed to be high enough to cover the pro tss mount

 

If you don’t mind post some pictures up once you get it installed. I really like the looks of that one if it would be compatible with all the safety stuff on the Limited.

 

All the safety stuff is ther same for the trims. The only time it changes is with the pro grille the sensor is located a bit lower. The bumper in that image wouldn't interfere with any safety sensors.

 

If you have sensors in your bumper, Shrockworks can accommodate them. You can actually see them in the picture I posted. The sensor in our grilles should be fine with this bumper.

 

side question on your stealth front. Did you modify it for additional clearance from the body? I’m installing mine in a few weeks. Just trying to get any tips before I dive in?

 

My brother did the installation (my Dad and him own an Auto Body Shop). I don’t know exactly what he did but I did tell him that I read here about it likely needing some modification so that the fit wasn’t as tight and he assured me he’d do so. He told me he had it on and off 10 different times to get the fit right.

One member here has a pretty detailed post about what he did. I’ll try to find his post and tag you in it.

 

Love my ADD Stealth Fighter bumpers. The member that @FancyPants (Amber) is speaking about is @matictundra, he has some posts about his clearance issues. I can’t find the thread, but perhaps he’ll chime in. I fortunately haven’t had any rubbing issues in the 4 months I’ve had my bumpers but I really haven’t done any off roading. I did have to make some minor drilling to the mounting holes on the front bumper alittle bigger for easier installation.

I have the Westin outlaw front and rear bumpers. I installed the front myself. No modifications needed. I had an off-road shop install the rear bumper and wire in the led strip that came in with it to illuminate the plate. They do have the circles cutout for stock sensors.

 

Is that the factory hitch? Westin's instructions show the factory hitch needs to be removed, nothing about reinstalling it.

 

Yes it is. The factory hitch works with the rear outlaw.

On that same note I messaged Westinautomotive about the Westin skid plate working with the TRD skid plate. They said no....

but they are wrong. The front Westin outlaw optional skid plate does work with the TRD skid. They do line up correctly. I’ve seen it. I saw that too late and had a custom skid plate made and a custom grill made to fill the light bar opening.
