Been lurking as a guest forever. Just installed AlphaRex headlights over the long weekend and I have to say I am very pleased. I replaced the lowbeams that shipped with the headlights with Headlight Revolution H7 V.4 LED's for $169.00. The LED's were plug and play...no drilling and hacking like the HID pics above. I wrapped the end of the LED modules in a few small pieces of packing foam they came in and dropped them inside the housing. Did the shake test to make sure they weren't banging around inside and all was good. They stayed put where I'd dropped them in. If you use these LED's make sure you remove the ring and install it in the housing first. Makes things waaaay easier. I also had to trim the low beam round covers to get them to seat with the HR V.4s. I considered the Morimoto's but didn't like the look as much and the cost even less!!! They appear to use standard reflectors and I have to say, with the V.4's the AlphaRex Low Beams are badass.

It took me several hours to adjust the headlights and I did notice once when you get to the end of the adjustment the screw will continue to turn with nothing happening. I used a small wrench and note: the height adjustment by the battery takes alot of patience!!! I finally put painters tape on my garage wall to delineate the starting point of the beam and found the end points of each adjustment. I got the height as high as it would go but still wasn't satisfied (with it on the wall at least), so I unscrewed the lower outside bolt, pulled the housing forward at the bottom and re-tightened the bolt. This helped enough to get them to what I would later consider the perfect height while driving. I then adjusted the right elevated portion of the left beam even with the right low beam. There were a few artifacts with the LED's on the garage wall and I wasn't far enough back, but in the real world these artifacts wound up on the ground in front of the truck and not even visible from the driver's seat. Finally I drove to a dark street and with the round covers removed, used a gloved hand to rotate the LED's inside the housing (they weren't hot enough to burn me but uncomfortable with bare fingers). My hand was really crammed in there but it was doable. Start with the power wire at 6 oclock and adjust left and right from there. I drove away extremely satisfied with the awesome brightness and coverage on the road.

Side note: I thought the beam on the wall looked really odd and I just chalked it up to the LED's. The next night I drove my 2012 Audi A6 to the gym and as I was pulling into the parking garage, I saw the HID projector headlight pattern on the wall. It had the same low spot to the left and then the next higher horizontal line faded into the right light at the same level. I'd never noticed how weird this pattern was in 7 years of driving the car. It was almost identical to my fully adjusted LED lights in the AlphaRex Pro's. Last night I drove the Tundra to BestBuy and the beam height was just perfect. There was a perfect horizontal line that was hitting the side and rear of cars just right at the bottom of their windows. They are even brighter and a better color than the factory Audi HID's. Time will tell if I have any condensation issues. The housing covers seal extremely well so not sure how moisture would enter.

I'll try to get some later today. I wired up the DRL module and it was really easy. Still trying to decide if I want to defeat the turn signal DRL's. I'm sure there is a post somewhere on how to do that.

LED's were plug and play...no drilling and hacking like the HID pics above. Hids are plug n play, don't know why you would drill and hack? You definitely might have to apply some sort of sealant if you run into moisture issues. LEDs are still behind Hids as far as output, but it's personal preference ya know.

Referring to the pics in this thread and AlphaRex's instructions for installing HID's. https://alpharexusa.com/how-to-install-hid-with-pro-series-headlights/

And regarding personal preference, these v.4 LED's are every bit as good and even brighter than my HID's in my 2012 A6.

You guys know the adjusters are meant to be done from above with a Phillips head screw driver. There is an opening on top and a gear on the back of the adjusters. Use a long Philips screwdriver and put it in from the top. It will turn the gear teeth.

I was thinking about getting these headlights after my spyder after about 1 yr started peel on the tops of the headlight housing but to my understanding these Alpharex have similar issue so I am looking at re clearing mine for now and see what happens

yes similar to Morimotos. All those new LED headlights, if it goes bad you have to replace the whole housing..the Sequoias are the same...sucks..that's where the warranty kicks in imo. iirc Morimotos has 5 years on the LED headlights. Not sure on alpharex.

maybe this already was discussed but how's the clear coat longevity on these? my recons are 2 years old and the clear coat is already peeling off. :annoyed:

i still have my stock units and am now considering the retrofit route just because of the factory clear coat.

@TheBeast , I am trying to reach the Tech @ Alpharex to get some info on them as well as maybe an extended warranty option. There's a video of a guy who did a installation of the Nova series on his 2nd Gen Tundra, and it's pretty much plug n play. The only thing you would wire is the drl led tube. Easy peasy with a fuse tap into ignition. I also watched a comparison video of these LEDs vs factory leds and halogen. Why halogens were even involved were questionable. Note: this comparison was with a f150(halogen) Raptor ( factory leds) , and Raptor with Alpharex leds. The Alpharex leds were amazingly bright, to the point I would jump ship from my hids. I would like to know how hids would compare to these. As soon as I get some answers I'll post here. Alpharex provides a 2 year warranty with their headlights. Thanks for posting about them

Ok guy's, spoke with Edwin over @ Alpharex. As of right now their warranty is 2 years. He said their working on a better warranty or extended warranty. He said that they will work with all their customers. If the led bulb or projector goes bad , he said they will work with you on replacement. They are working on tailights too, unfortunately ford and ram are the first 2 makes, I told him BS! What about the Tundra. He agreed and said that will happen eventually. These headlights are pretty sick and very easy to install with no opening up or modifications needed. A fuse tap to the ignition and your done. They have 2 adjustment screws for up/down and left/ right. They are a bit pricey , but when you look @ the Morimoto, Sequoia, or doing a custom retrofit , your gonna be around 1,200 or so. Santa could come early this year:D

In the post above, my truck was farther back but I can tell you the LED's are significantly brighter than the HID's. You'll notice the artifact in the lower left of the LED's but it isn't really noticeable on the road. My Tundra is lifted as well so the lights have to angle down more to avoid blinding others while the Audi shines out almost exactly level. The LED's are whiter than the HID's. The HID's have slightly more spill above the cutoff line.

What was the led bulb you used from headlight revolution? Any more pics of the truck with the headlights? These seem to look nice.

Hey guys, I've been running with these lights for a couple of months now and would like to weigh in. My initial shipment arrived damaged and the Alpharex team (via FB) was quick to rectify the situation and shipped me another headlight with a return label for the broken one. So far, the lenses are much nicer and more durable than the spiders they replaced and the DRL is much brighter as well. I am also happy to report that there hasn't been any issues with condensation after the initial "cook off" of the moisture from manufacturing/shipping/storage/etc. I changed the halogen bulbs to Philips race vision and have been mostly happy with the beam pattern. Maybe I'll change the bulb to LED in the future but for now I'll leave them as-is. Overall, I am very happy with the purchase and Alpharex's customer service. The Morimotos are tempting me, but I am content.......for now. Pics of my sequoia and beam pattern attached.IMG_0294.jpgIMG_1557 2.jpgsequoia lights.jpgIMG_9730.jpgIMG_7885.jpg

I got the V.4 LED Headlights, H7 Bulbs. I took a pic but my grille looks horrible and I was waiting to get my "rock warrior" replacement one back from Line-X and installed before taking photo's. You can see them from the side in the photo below. I got sick of waiting on Toyota to change the Tundra up so I committed to keeping my 2008 for 12 more years. I put new black leather in it, replaced the door armrests with black ones, just put Method Race Wheels on with Toyo Mud 35's, and had the undercarriage/engine steam cleaned. I also have an Icon suspension going in in January and gears in February, both at SDHQ in Gilbert. Then next October my Vagabond Nomad should be ready and I will be doing my own "goose gear"copy, a propex heater, 38 gallon OEM tank upgrade and 18 gallon water tank. I basically pulled the wife thing and I told here I'm saving her $30,000 since I'm not buying a new truck. :) Got the eye roll on that one.

I'll start a thread on all my upgrades soon, especially my camo paint job. I'm actually going to paint it Desert Camo in my driveway with Cerakote. Already had the Method Rims powder coated in FDE color.
