I have a 2019 Tundra and am tired of the Dealership Bull..... Want to go to a local guy I can watch mess with my truck. What is the consensus on which oil to use? I hear the stock that Toyota uses is Mobile One. If this is true how man for or against and if so there are multiple variants of this oil. Which of the variants should I get? If the suggestion is to use something else please let me know what that is. I am in NJ for a geographical point of reference if that matters..

Thank you for all the condolences on the being in NJ part, I agree it sucks.

I use Mobil 1 extended. There are sweet rebates on Rotella website right now. I got 5 quart jug of full synthetic Truck oil for $17.56 . And there is a 10 dollar rebate. Limit 4. So I bought four. It was Black Friday deal on Amazon. You should change your own oil. Save money and get it done right. Lots of help on this site. Use Toyota oem filters too. My dealer does ,buy four get one free. Good luck. D

You can't go wrong with Mobil 1. That is all. I've used it for 20 years and change it at 10K if my cars got lucky

    1. you need to use full synthetic oil. Not dinosaur oil.
    2. Pick your brand. So many good ones.
    3. You want to know what I use. I use Mobil 1 0W20 full synthetic. I've never used it before the Tundra. I'm very happy with it.
    4. I do my own oil changes on the Tundra.
    5. You are a smart grasshopper for deciding to do your own.
    6. Unsolicited advice/idea: get a Fumoto valve for the oil pan.

I have always used Mobil 1 up until recently, I have been using Walmart brand full synthetic, it is $15 for 5 quarts, I change it every 5k, pretty sure whoever makes the stuff for Walmart is one of the major brands, the local Walmart also sells the Toyota brand filters, I do use those, though I have used Fram as well with no ill effects.

I’ve got amsoil in all my vehicles. I change the tundra oil in the driveway, it’s a quick job.

If it has an API stamp, it is fine. Use the weight that the manual recommends 0W-20, I think.

Just changed my oil the first time. Upon recommendation bought the fumoto valve. Used mobile 1 fuel economy and TRD oil filter from the dealer. It is synthetic and about identical to the royal purple etc brands. MPG jumped to 22. J/K

Usually Supertech + OEM filter, but I jumped on the autozone clearance and grabbed 65 qts of Rotella Gas Truck. Will be using that for probably the next 3 or 4 years in the Tundra.

I use Mobil 1 full synthetic, 0W-20, Extended Performance. I change oil once a year.

I think there are many good options. For me, the combination of quality, price, and convenience won me over.
