I’m going to start a thread to keep track of everything I’ve done (and that I’m going to do) to the truck. It’s not going to be a “how to” by any means but if anyone ever needs help on something I’ve done I’ll gladly help. I’ll try to post a lot of pics. 2F5D165F-76E3-4D4A-BBE8-979D7A131F10.jpg

Where'd you find clear corners? Theyre like impossible to find for 04-06 non-DC models now days

This is the day I picked it up. Super excited 190k already. Runs perfect. Over 52 service records from Toyota and has been in the same couple of cities it’s whole life in SoCal. Couple small scratches, unnoticeable, and some oxidized front headlights.D23EB6AA-46A9-446F-9041-E3D84787896C.jpg9083AC64-8F9E-409D-AA9D-1AF2B111275B.jpg

I bought the truck with them. Yeah I was going to replace them just because they had a black visible seal around the bezel compared to the headlight but I couldn’t find any either so just stuck with them. I like the all clear.

Had to fix the headlights right away. Used a mother’s headlight restore. Worked pretty well. Upgraded to HIDs the following day. Pointed them down as far as I could and so far no complaints. 800FFE15-AFD1-44EA-BE1C-894C76281C8E.jpg

Scored a camper shell after looking for a week. Found one on offer up the exact color for under 400$ in perfect condition with full carpet kit, dome light and happened to be the most expensive version snugtop made( 3k or so)Didn’t know till recently but great deal. Very happy with it. 7BBFFFA8-B889-4592-BB0B-A3AB1341E4D0.jpg

Found out I had a pioneer system with CarPlay so I can watch dvds on it and Bluetooth through my phone as well as a mic and rear+front facing camera. System has Rockford fosgates and sounds amazing.4D171D3B-B8BE-4601-B974-23B82CF2DC6C.jpg
Thanks to this forum and others I was able to figure out the tpms system and bypass it. Pretty easy and a necessity because I’ll be airing up and down and had 2 tpms sensors out and not needing to replace them. I’m editing a video to make it super simple for others.112DCAFA-28C1-41B2-AF01-D75A991B1528.jpg

I just cleared the Tpms codes on my truck with my snap on scan tool. Light never came back on! Lol

Woah that’s handy. Mine wouldn’t do that. Only cause the sensors were bad so they kept coming on. Wouldn’t reset :(

Decided to add wheel spacers for a better stance. Went with Spidertrax 1.25”64915A23-A639-4F30-9E82-094D58D5EA58.jpgNext step was some methods for me. I got a great deal and liked these method 305 16” Had these mounted on the 275s that were new from the previous owner. Flipped the tires so the lettering was on the outside. I don’t know if I like it that way.1D9F0FA5-EC5B-420D-B409-513AE68F01AE.jpg

Decided I wanted to camp as soon as I got the camper shell and started coming up with some ideas I saw online and went with this box setup... at first.3ED2C9B2-59CD-4110-994C-886BAC339E2E.jpg

After using it a couple days I realized I was wasting room and it was heavy as hell and I wanted something that allowed me to use the truck (aka remove the platform) if I needed to. So I put some slats horizontally across the Bed-liner and 2 tight fitting pieces of Douglas fur, padded and carpeted it. Much better and easy to take out and can also slide one piece on top of the other to give me room to stand something taller up in the shell. 90FD70E1-EB32-478B-9393-22C8F0D5A10B.jpg

Realized that I needed some better lighting if I’m going to be off-road at all or camping so I started looking into factory switches and decided to uses the 00-03 factory push button fog switch to control a light bar and ditch lights. I tested and discovered the purpose of each wire and connected to push buttons to their own independent relays up to the battery for anytime lights. The Fog switch illuminates when I push it in. 9B0F53D2-AD8F-406D-BA95-5A3ED0727372.jpg210E3757-4DE8-4518-B907-744F4E37B274.jpg image.jpg

Picked up an old roof rack at the junk yard and restored it to go on the camper shell. Gonna put a cargo rack on it and possibly a non permanent rack over the cab. Haven’t installed yet. I got all of the hardware and silicone but I’m waiting for dryer weather for a proper install.18716E48-5D61-4540-B1EF-0A5C6D36322F.jpg

Found a small leak coming through the windshield. I’m guessing rust from a bad install years before. Found rust along the top pinch weld looks to all be surface rust thank god and am having it repaired to install a new windshield. 56DFB3EB-1B2D-4742-86CC-54AE40129B82.jpg
took the headliner out the other day to get a better view of the windshield and decided to have it reupholstered while it was out to a charcoal color which perfectly matched the interior trim. Excited to put that back in soon!F66E2C11-C304-4587-B0C6-B3B2610A5935.jpg

You have any open headliner shots? I’d like to see all the workings as I’ll have most of my trims off while doing some painting.

Any secret removal tips would be helpful.

Sure. It was really simple I’ll post some other photos just let me know what you need
I labeled and bagged everything for when I put it back in.
    - I started on front dome light. 2 bolts then one clip hiiding behind the light covers just pinch in it stays on the ceiling. Remove plug on the back as you pull it out
-then rear dome light I believe one or 2 screws under light cover then unplug as well
-after I did the visors on both sides(truck to visors is after they unscrew. You need to tug straight down a little hard because they are still clipped in. They won’t break pull straight)
-then I did all of the safety handles and caps covering the screw holes on them. Simple
-next I took off all 4 seat belt caps to the front a side rear seats to get access to the bolts. Unscrewed bolts with socket and set off to the side for all seat belts. All of the upper trim still attached holding in the headliner is simply clipped and comes out with a good quick pull. All the clips should be attached to the trim pieces and not the ceiling.
    - 3 small round rear clips pull straight out with the headliner
    -done
    Hope this helped

It was a long day with the sanding disc and wire brushes. Getting it all prepped for primer and paint. Someone put bondo all through the rails which was not even needed ( cheap shop probably stole some previous owners money from and old leak and fixed with bondo and sealer). I had to sand everything out and found a couple factory pinch welds that just weren’t closed all the way from the upper channels to repair. Possibly from water puddling. Not sure didn’t seem too rusted out. ( see 2nd picture). image.jpg

Not too much progress on the windshield because of the rain. Got some aftermarket fog lights put in today and swapped out the headlight stalk as well and now fully operational. I’ll do the anytime fog mod tomorrow most likely. Definitely like the fogs.0D03A7E8-163C-4FFC-BDAE-2D4D354E4F8F.jpg

After I went ahead and took off the skid plate and gave it a good sanding, primed it and just decide to undercoat it. Don’t like the black undercoating that much. A little too rubbery like it would peel off. We’ll see how it holds up. B511E0D9-550A-4ABA-B81C-8860CA7AF107.jpg

Hey sorry never saw this! Lol yeah I’ve fallen in love with these first gens. The antenna is Ronnin factory. I’ve Never gotten in trouble for tint. I didn’t put it on there but it’s not too dark. It’s I think the darkest legal tint you can go and works perfectly. The camper shell has a nice tint as well but came that way also so I’m not positive. Looks darker in the photo than person. image.jpg

update. Was out of state on a job for a couple weeks. I got back and finished prep work on the windshield primed it and used a auto paint match and clear coat to make it look factory. Satisfied with how it came out. 52CDB682-7A3D-460F-AD3F-7F3BD4F7FA1D.jpgBuffed and polished after this and it blended really well. Had to fix a couple areas that weren’t taped perfectly and it came out great.

Had a Toyota recommended window installer come out and just went with the basic cheapy glass but it came out great and has a lifetime warranty so that’s good I guess. I’m waiting to put the headliner in. I want to water test it and make sure it’s perfectly sealed. So far so good and we have rain comin in a couple days.3A691F7D-CBCD-4E27-931B-615B7C85C391.jpg I bought and installed the rago fabrication ditch light mounts and some gg lighting 180degree ditch lights with rigid amber light covers. They’re great and make a huge difference off-road and in really dark conditions. Came out great and I really like the look. If anyone needs help on installs it was pretty simple. E48617CC-7E22-46A4-9468-F4C94E75DC1F.jpg
