A wise man once told me: to be happy, all a man needs is a pickup truck and a good ol’ dog

EC5EC8C4-8BA4-4FEF-9AAA-77805F3A5E68.jpg My dog’s name is Big Murphy. He’s an 18 month old, 80lb. Boxer we purchased from a breeder who breeds and shows champion Boxers. He abides with our 3 other Boxers, who oddly are all rescues. I’m 68 and have had a Boxer in my life since I was 4 or 5, along with several Bulldogs. Boxers, much like a Tundra, are reliable and give their owners great pleasure. Not a day goes by that this big goofball doesn’t make me laugh. He’s an intelligent clown who exists only to entertain and love us. I’ll always have a Boxer (or 4) at my feet and as long as I need a truck, a Tundra in my garage.

And this big guy is Murdock. Sadly he passed away a couple years ago. He was found chained to a dog house, never immunized, was full of heart worm, mange and had food allergies when taken from his owners. We adopted him from a Boxer rescue organization. They believed he was part mastiff as he was huge....110lbs. But the most gentle and smart dog I’ve ever been around. As you can tell, he thought he was human. Loved to sit upright in chairs, especially when we took him camping. RIP ol’ Murdock! 9A605426-D8E1-43E9-B94B-BDBCFF672A58.jpg

I know exactly how you feel, nothing better than a loyal dog, and a trustworthy truck, life is good. Here's our bulldog Wally, who of course is the leader of our household. :)

And this is Rocky, our rescue from an Amish puppy mill. He was kept in a crate the first 3 years of his life, used only as a stud dog. No daily contact with humans. His toes were splayed from standing in a wire cage 24/7. He has no molars from chewing on his cage all day. He was undernourished and had huge callouses on all 4 elbows from being confined in the crate. Our vet said his tail was bobbed with a hatchet or cleaver. When we got him he was very shy, but just the sweetest little guy who loved to give you kisses. It was tough potty training a dog that had been accustomed to just going in his wire crate but he eventually caught on. Due to his confinement and poor nutrition his growth was stunted. He’s only 16” tall. He was taken by his Amish owners to be euthanized because he had a canine venereal disease and it was cheaper to put him down than treat the disease.
A rescue took him in, got donations for his treatments and we adopted him once he was healthy. He’s the happiest little guy and amazingly doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. D1D2FB65-C811-4D78-A8B0-B09DF9516263.jpg

Wish i bought the crewmax for i inherited the Fozz 4 months after i purchased the truck. He is 133lbs and he hates the back seat of my truck. If you guys have noticed, big plastic hinge covers bulge out, and the poor dog lies on them. I put some towels along the seat back and the Fozz is happy again. I have to play grab-ass everytime doorknob wants to go for a ride, good dog ramp suggestions anyone?GOPR4282_1525914567789_high.jpg

Beautiful Bully! We had several females over the years and bred them with champion studs. Their litters all went to good Bulldog knowledgeable homes and quite frankly helped fund my kids college educations...lol!

Most of our Boxer rescues have come to us with chronic health issues. We’ve lost 4 over the last 10 years. It’s so hard to lose them but we stay positive by reminding ourselves we provided them the loving home they didn’t have before we rescued them.

Halle was a rescue dog too. She rode up with me to AK and back in my 09 Taco. She loved snow and being a Husky was like going home for her. Miss her a lot. She was an anchor for me after I got sick but that's another story....:(

I'm under deposit on a 2020 Crewmax, a pregnant wife with our first on the way and a 100 pound 13 year old lab mix...
I'm guessing my new truck won't have much extra room soon...
I'm wondering if anyone else has pictures of a good dog bed set up in the back of the crewmax with the bigger seat flipped up? Our dog is used to riding in the back of my 4runner and taking up the whole cargo area so I need to find a way to keep him comfortable and safe as he's not real stable in the car anymore. I know the floor isn't level with the seat flipped up but I'll have to figure something out to keep him comfortable when we have to take him in the car.
So anyone have any good dog setups in the backseat of the crewmax?
