    Hello all and happy thanksgiving,

Do the struts pictured look like they are about to fail? 2012 40,000 miles. Thanks

Well you can’t really judge it’s potential failure by just looking at it so...

Its not leaking, nor is the body damaged. It is just as likely too leak as a shock that "looks" clean...

Not to hijack the thread, but how do you like that jack/stand combo? I have been interested in them.

Mine look very similar to that and they have 140k on the clock. I’d say you’re fine. I’m looking to replace mine simple because they feel worn out

Let me emphasize the word 'feel' in the above statement.
Unless your shocks are visibly leaking, feeling their rebound and compression characteristics is the only way to know if they are failing. The most simple way to test is to go to each corner and jump up and down on the truck (for the rear) or push down very hard on the front fender.
The truck should only bounce once. It may rebound, go above ride height, and then compress back down to ride height.
If the truck keeps bouncing then the shock is worn out.

Other than that, I don't think the eyelet of the shock is going to fail from normal usage but it could potentially be weakened by the rust.

    Still rolling stock baby....
If you want to spend money and upgrade the suspension and use the excuse, "but the ones that are on are worn out", I am all for it, I vote a OME suspension... hit up Toytec I think they may still have a sale going on...

fair enough, I’ll do the check but they’re “ok”. Looking to level and planning on 6112’s and 5100’s and BORA’s or Spidertrax

Pretty sure the Bilstein warranty only applies to shocks that are purchased aftermarket, not OEM Bilsteins.
