I am going to order OEM pads and rotors. The current rotors all around have heavy ridges, pads have some meat but I'm wanting to replace it all (140k miles) the rear pads are powerstop, not sure on the front.

If order oem pads all around, do I need this? I searched but couldn't find info.

    $17.55
    Shim Kit Anti Squea

There isn't an image for it... so I'm not sure what is included...if they are front or rear, or how many would be needed.

@Roman if you are around, helllp.

On the several Toyota Brake jobs I’ve done over the years I’ve always been able to reuse the shims. I did order new shims on my FJ Just for the hell of it. I think I ordered 2 sets (front and rear were separate) but I’m not 100% on that.

shims are reusable, just clean off old shim grease and apply new to the back of the pads. Replace them if the are rusty or deformed.

You can definitely reuse the shims, as long as they are in good shape (most of the time they are). The only time we add shims to a vehicle in the shop is if they have aftermarket pads already on the vehicle, which typically don't have shims installed.

I ordered a shim kit. I had non oem pads in back, so I assumed they were non oem up front, wasn't sure if they would be the same....so maybe an extra $17.55, but I'll have shims. :)

    Thanks guys!
