The only thinkg you will struggle with if you want a longer box is the seat mounts. That is part of why the ESP Long Box is so expensive. They provide replacement seat mounts, because the stock ones make a longer box impossible. The ESP ones with 3 bins fit between the stock seat mounts.

I bought and installed it. Didn't take more than an hour. I love the extra storage space for jumper cables etc.

As long as you cut inside the trace marks it is a very snug and tight fit. There will be a pattern on the box the ESP product is shipped in. Greatest mod imo...

What does that mean in practical terms?

My understanding is you receive a re-engineered replacement bracket for the rear seat because the OEM bracket occupies the space required for the storage box. You remove the OEM brackets and use the new ones. The regular ESP storage has the 3 separate storage compartments to allow the OEM bracket to remain in place between the compartments.

@AZBoatHauler is correct. It's the primary reason that I have no interest in the long box. I don't want to have to pull up all the carpent and remove my rear seats for an install.

I just purchased 3 polycarbonate food trays for a DIY effort: they won't scratch, are already black, and are 4 inches deep [to sit flush], plus they have a 3/4 inch larger lip all around the edge that will hide the cut. 2 of them are 12 x 12 and the other is 21.5 x 6.75. [The long one is for flashlights.]

I don't need tons of space for storage under there: some people do.

Oh yeah, cost me less than 40 bucks. [Their shipping was insane, the communists.]

Way I figure it, I just saved 150 bucks plus shipping costs for ESP box, which I intend to spend on date night.

Hot babe [wife] in a hot truck: that's my motto.:D

Solid plan. I have heard (no first hand experience) that the bottom of the truck is sloped, so I hope those trays can sit level. It'd drive my OCD bonkers. Let us know how it goes.

I think you can feel how far the flat goes back because the back edge of the foam has an edge on it. It feels like it, and I remember seeing that in a video somewhere [at least, I think so].

Anyway, I am lining up numerous mods to do all at once this summer. I am retiring in May, we have a home business, blah, blah, blah ... I want to do all this when it is fun, not a job! I'll post pics then, though, and make some comments.
