LOL, not sure what "a youngster" is to you? I remember AirWolf with JMV, never saw DA but it actually looks like real day California; floods, mud slides, and fires, oh my!

IIRC didn't Jay Leno have an episode with that actual rig from the movie? That I've seen......

Musk Tweets; 2 solar charging options, colors beyond stainless SOS pads.... Maybe Toyota will do better, now? Gas will stay cheap, and pigs can fly, and H-D will cancel their electric bikes, and....

I would rent one for the day just because it looks cool but wouldn't buy one.

I dont think they are marketing to people like me though.

If I were younger I would want one in a minute.

Hybrid with an option of going full electric or gas and I would buy one in a minute.

Just not a lot of places around to recharge it and not sure how being in winter for 7 months would help the batteries.

    Neat truck though.

Now, look under these forums in the Garage and Builds sections here; Toyota isn't producing it either.

From my POV as a truck builder and former road racer, I thought there'd be a true interest in performance here, other than just taking a 4x4 to the shopping mall. However, after seeing just 5 or 6 of us in the Baja thread last weekend, it's evident that something else is going on here. After reading all the vitriolic spew it's REALLY something else going on here. Who owns this website?

Yupper. Decades of Detroit manure just got flushed down the budgetary toilet, and the fight is on.

Ford backed out of the re-match truck pull....

“A senior Ford spokesperson told InsideEVs.com that Madra’s tweet ‘was tongue-in-cheek’ and meant to point out the absurdity of Tesla’s tow video.”

Madra tweet/asked for a re-match of the truck pull (F150 vs CybrTrk) on his terms, Musk immediately agreed to arrange it. Detroit says nope, re-match aint gonna happen.

Yep, a 6000+ (weight of Tesla is unknown, number is based off of other EV models) truck is going to beat the 4500 lb F150 everytime.

Engineering Explained has a great video on this stunt: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzKCJsou10w

Maybe an F350 would have a chance, but there's so many variable in a truck to truck pull that it's not smart to draw any conclusions from them.

I love what it did to a stock 911 and especially what it did to the furd, while going uphill. Somewhat unactractive, yeah. Unbelievable outer skin strength, like the concept of an 'exoskelton' making room inside, I mean did you see the 6 folks get out of it?

Someday electric will be the standard, hope I see it! Luck all.

No, the variables are drive train selection, weight, HP, and torque values. There's nothing confusing here, it's not any sort of new science; the electric vehicles have 100% of torque on tap, right now.

Truck-Pulling the competition uphill is what Tesla has done in the semi market as well. No stunts.

It's incredible to see the vast ignorance as well, of the 4WD vs. AWD drivetrains.

No stunts, just hair raising and neck snapping performance. It's smart to pay attention to how the conclusions are putting certain aspects in the dust.

Did you even watch the video? He goes over how THIS is 100% a stunt. And for a truck pull you would hold the brake to get the RPM's up before releasing the brake, therefore getting 100% of the available torque as well.

Toyota pulling the space shuttle was a stunt, Ford pulling a train is a stunt, GM pulling a yacht is a stunt. They all do it, Tesla is not immune.

The 0-60 time is a measurable spec and can be referenced, I don't think it's relevant for a truck but that's just my opinion, the range and towing/hauling once regular consumers get their hands on them are another thing I'm interested to see.

Doesn't surprise me at all. I dealt with 3 Ford dealerships and Ford corporate when owning a F150. They don't stand behind the trucks they build.

Who would want a truck with such low visibility anyway? Let's back up a motorhome... not gonna happen. Let's go four wheeling, again, not going to happen. There is such thing as too innovative. I guarantee NAPA won't be stocking parts for these anytime soon. Why the bulletproof glass anyway?

    Hard Pass.
