It seems like you guys have done tool boxes to death, so I apologize for making you do it again, but I still can’t find an answer to my question. I am looking to mount my took box but I hate drilling holes if I can help it. Besides I can’t see the bottom of the deck rails due to the Bed liner.

Better Built makes slides for the Tacoma deck rail system to mount the tool box to but it seems not for the Tundra...

So before I start trying a hoard of different adhesives.... do you guys have an idea?

those are just the first clamps that I found on Amazon. but if your toolbox has the same mounting methods as mine, its just two slots at bed rail level. washer and bolt top goes in toolbox, and the fancy clamp goes into the track. tighten the two together and mine held tight for years of rattling around. I hope this helps!

I figured there’s got to be a way to just attach it to the deck rail system. The deck rails have to be strong enough to tighten down straps so it’s gotta be tough enough for an 80 lb tool box. I’d have taken the rail system off if I had to but that’s one of my new favorite features and would rather not lose it.

A J-hook into the cleats would probably work

That’s wicked nice. I like that because you can clearly put a bed cover right over it. The bed rails are holding that up? No issues?

I was able to use the j-hooks that came with my Weather Guard box. Just wiggles them into the track system and tightened down. No issues.

I have bed rails and found the Weather Guard supplied mounting hardware to be kind of meh, so I also bought these Tite Lok clamps to mount it. Threw away the big chunks intended for mounting a shell. Works great.

Do these clamp it to the rail system? They look like they’d be pretty secure. Looks like they’d clamp to the underside of the top of the rail system and the top side of the regular bed rails, which would also serve to lift the toolbox off the bed rails a smidge.

Not the way I used them. I didn't use the part that would otherwise clamp to the topside. Here is a pic installed, (sorry about the quality, taken with a potato).

Used same clamps from Amazon, these ones worked great, but I played with mines till it was straight then tightened it.... kind of OCD on things

I took Green Thunder’s idea and triedthe regular J Hooks that come with the box. I figured try simple first. They worked... mostly. They’re not as perfect a fit as I’d like but they do work. I think the T hooks would hold more snug and look more professional. For now I’m gonna give this a go and see what I get. If the box moves I’ll definitely go for the T Hooks.

By the way I looked into boxes carefully. I chose the Home Depot box on the basis of price with features this seemed to have the best value. The only concern I have is the welds. It looks like it was welded by a very talented monkey. If it doesn’t hold I can just weld it myself. It is very light duty but I won’t be sitting on it or anything. This is just to get my hitched, straps, and tools off the floor of my truck so if I’m ever in an accident my two year old daughter doesn’t get hit with any of that stuff. The weather seals seem good. I like that it comes with a tray. I also picked full size so I can still add a bed cover later if I choose.
