So, I keep reading this reference of the 4.10 being standard and the 4.30 for those with the tow package.

I’ve pulled the VIN through the Toyota Vehicle Specifications page and it indicates the vehicle has the tow package AND 4.10 rear end.

What say you? Is there a chance some have the 4.10 or could that field just list the standard without consideration of the package?

    “TO Tow Package-Factory”

    “Mechanical & Performance

5.7L DOHC 32V i-FORCE V8 with Dual Independent VVT-i 381HP/401 lb-ft 6-Spd Automatic Trans w/Sequential Shift 4WDemand: Part-time 4x4 Sys w/ 2-speed Electronically Controlled Transfer Case TripleTech Frame: Fully-boxed Fr Section Reinforced C Under Cab, Open C Under Bed 4.10 Rear Differential w/10.5" Ring Gear Automatic Limited-Slip Differential Front Ind Coil-Spring High-Mounted Double Wishbone Susp w/Stabilizer Bar Trapezoidal Multi-Leaf Rear Suspension & Staggered Outboard Mounted Shocks Power-Assisted 4 Wheel Disc Brakes 18" Steel Wheels w/ P255/70R18 Tires”

For what it is worth, the above also states it has 18” wheels but it has the Rock Warrior package with 17’s. May have answered my own question there.

    Thanks in advance.

Isn't it a max tow pkg gets you the 4:30's ? That's how it is in my 1794 (2019)

Interesting. My 2013 Rock Warrior comes up with the same build info as your's does. BTW the Rock Warrior and Tow Packages are listed as Factory Installations and not Port or Dealer.

I’m starting to think the same thing. Thanks for the reply.

I thought I saw the TRD pro has 4.10 gears too?

That would be strange, as they came with a slightly larger tire out of the gate - no? 32" vs a 33"

So as I stated above, I thought a RW came with 33s not 32s.

2013 Tundra stock tire size options.
Using a generic tire size calculator...

    285/70/17 - RW - 32.71x11.22

    255/70/18 - 32.06x10.04
    275/65/18 - 32.07x10.83
    275/55/20 - 31.91x10.83

So, as my previous comment stated with regards to tire size and not wheel size...

I find it strange, that with a larger tire they would put 4.10s w/tow package and not keep it geared at the 4.30s.

I thought only the 4.6 L non tow package got the 4.10 gears. And I also thought the 4.6 L had a different rear end all together. Although I didn’t pay too close of attention.

Really not sure where this conversation is going lol

    Larger diameter, gearing altered

I believe they came with BFG LT KOs, heavier tire, more rotating mass

Marketed as an "offroad" style upgrade, wouldn't 4.30 be a better gearing for this, more low end grunt and better pickup

4.30 would be geared more favorable to this.

Since 2014 all 5.7s came standard with the tow package and 4.3. I believe only 4.6s get 4.1.
Options were different from 07-13 and I believe that the tow package was optional at the time.

We agree there, ain't much but between a P and LT load range D there is probably about 20+lbs of additional unsprung/rotational weight added!

I regeared my 08 4-banger Taco and it did great...until a made another jump in tire size lol

I'm sniffing around going gear again to this pig. Just saving up that $.

The RW BFG's are actually E rated. But still just a little more weight. For me personally and my everyday use 4.10's are fine. But I do find it humorous that ROCK Warrior got 4.10's.
