    @OVTune

Mat, I'm having a dash button made that says 87 octane for the other map I requested.

It can be made as an on/off switch or as a momentary switch. The OEM tow button is a momentary switch.

I was thinking an on/off switch would be nice, so I wouldn't have to press it each time, if I had to run 87 octane. Would continuous signal from the on/off style switch cause a problem with the tune or ECU?

My justification for the SC was mostly extra towing power. Most of my Bikes, The GT500 and the Cobra all run premium fuel so its what I am used to anyway. The daily and my older Dodge plow truck are the only vehicles I run 87...Being limited to Premium is only an issue for me when traveling and I usually just map out stations using puregas.org, and have some Boostane along just in case...

I have one of those but the software isn't going to work with Android (at least not right now).

Maybe one day they'll have us flashing with smart phones but as of now it needs windows.

I am curious then about maybe mirroring the laptop or maybe the orange virus ToyotaCal TuningTablet

    With wifi or cable?
Is the tablet wireless capable? Or able to mirror it? @OVTune

Okay....now here's a question for all you who, like me, already had or have a DAP tune, done remotely using the MyGenius handheld device, and are swtiching to the OV Tune. This MyGenius critter has my OEM tune stored in it right now, in case I ever needed to change it back from the DAP tune for some reason. Maybe @OVTune has some insight on this, too.

Can I pull the DAP tune prior to flashing the OVtune and store it in the MyGenius? If I don't switch back to the OEM tune prior to reflashing with the OVTune, is my DAP tune gone? Can I ever use the MyGenius device to restore the OEM or DAP tune and expect it (the MyGenius device) to retain the OVTune, in order to be able to reflash the ECU again at a later date with the OVTune? According to DAP, the MyGenius device also is not compatible with MAC, must use Windows.

Is that clear as mud?!? :Do_O:confused:

Honestly, I'm not too worried about trying to keep the DAP tune, just more curious than anything. And wondering if I'll ever have any use for the MyGenius again.

EDIT: Then again, maybe the OEM tune is here in my laptop, and the MyGenius is the device used to do the reflash. I'm gettin' too old .... memory fails me....sometimes.....what were we talking about?

Others can chime In. The fastest way is click on "Resources", then click on the photo I attached. Or, you can go to General-Instructions", scroll down until you see:
OROLLA / LEXUS / TUNDRA FLASH KIT
    TOYOTA INSTRUCTION

    Click on "TOYOTA INSTRUCTION"

The flash/driver download links are there.

Your factory tune and the dap tune are both stored on the mygenius. You just go through the flash procedure and click the non "mod" file. You will always have the dap stored for a rainy day.

You'll most likely want to flash back to stock before you flash the OVtune on it.

Thanks guys. I followed the directions on the flyer and was getting only taco options.

Is there a version of the flash manager and logger to confirm I have the right ones?

Don’t pick a truck. Launch P5 or Logger and you are good.

The gear issue I am referring to are the new gears I had installed, I am going through the break in period. Nothing to do with the tune

@OVTune I have been thinking for a while now on a new feature I have not heard anybody ask for. When we downshift with the factory tune, it has preset townshift limits based on speed from what I can tell. It works great as an engine break/aggressive down shifting for all gears ACCEPT 1st. If your rolling at 40MPH and put the s mode in 1, it will beep and NOT shift until somewhere around 20-25 mph which gives you only about 3 thousand ish rpm which doesn't engine brake anything.

Could you remove this 1st limit so we can shift into 1st to engine break at similar points to say 2nd or 3rd? I think 2nd will click in around 60 mph and it revs to around 5000. Be nice if it let 1st engage at whatever speed lies at around the same rpm limits as the higher gears.

Also any chance you could add in auto engine breaking (auto downshift when braking) in drive tow haul mode, like GM does with there newer tow haul features?

Not sure if anybody else is interested in this feature being added. I would say that this is a low priority to me as I would love to see the flex fuel tune next!!

Thats after I get the base tune! Which should be very soon?

That’s probably my biggest gripe I can’t get into first until you are like nearly stopped.

my shifts decent in tow haul but I’d definitely be ok with it being fine tuned a bit.

1st gear down shift is limited to less than 22mph FWIW. it does feel like it is too slow but Toyota is really just trying to protect your engine and trans.

I'll look into it, but can't make promises (on the 1rst gear thing). Seems a bit dangerous. The LC500 allows this and the driveline shock is tremendous when going into first at 5000 + rpm

Sent my logs in last week. I was on my second tune revision and was seeing roughly 13.6-13.8 MPG with mixed driving, 2014 2WD no lift or bigger tires. Looking forward to the next round of updates.

Agreed that this would be a dangerous feature. During some spirited driving I've been guilty of accidentally double taping the s mode selector, heard the beep and had been glad that the lock out was there.
    I'd keep it

    Alrighty guys.
Rafael and I are working right now on wrapping up the ECUs that need S mode lock completed.
I might have some features coming for the shift selector (up/down) but that's at a later time. We have a lot to get wrapped up with first and get all ECUs on the same page.

And sequoia guys I have some questions for you, please check your zendesk ticket later this evening

    Sure,

    1. I need to confirm, but some sequoias have tow haul mode and a ECT button, we wanted to confirm a few things because this gives us room for a few additional things unique to the sequoia as they both act independently on the shift and throttle.

The combination (s mode, ECT, and Tow haul) needs to be appropriately handled in the ECU so that it doesn't hang up in the code. Basically.

Also, there will be a *slight* update with our S-mode control.

S-mode control will have (optional) 3 things:
    1. Gear locking
    2. Full Throttle Direct Upshift shift control. (fully functional). -Allows direct and immediate shifting up or down at ANY RPM within the programmed allowable limits. (no you cannot downshift into first to get 1rst gear at 6000 rpm).
there is no delay, you press it, it shifts immediately. You press it at "4877RPM it shifts at 4877RPM... you press it at 5155...etc..
    3. Full throttle Direct Downshift Control.
