Picked up my "new to me" winch for the Tundra. I will give it a good cleaning but still need to order my bumper so it will sit for a while.

No but I see em done on Honda's and stuff. I know you can put that little breather filter on the crank case. I don't know if you just.plug the inlet to the intake tube or what.
however another alternative popular on Tacomaworld is the in line oil catch can on the PCV vacuum line

Not sure honestly. I know about | | much about winches but was browsing FB Marketplace and saw what I believe was a great deal for the Zeon 12 so i scooped it up.

What are the benefits using synthetic? Is it worth the cost and hassle to re-spool it?

Synthetic rope is a must in my opinion, although very expensive. It has very little stretch, less than 3% I believe compared to cable which stretches a mile (possibly 28%). It is safe, if it breaks it isn't going to cut you in half like a loaded cable might if you are in the wrong place when it snaps under tremendous force. It is also far nicer to handle than cable, easy on the hands.

Three years ago, when I was far more capable than today, my son and I pulled down two maple trees on some property that I own that needed a clearing, one about 30" in diameter and another around 36", using 7/16" synthetic rope and two come-a-long winches rated at 6-ton each, and several (6?) large snatch blocks. Note I said pulled down and not cut down - we wanted no stump being left, so I decided we would use leverage to unearth the rootball (pre-stump) and digging around the trunk, cutting all the roots exposed before setting the 12ton towing strap around each at approximately 15' and running two separate lines to two separate winches attached to two maples of same size. As the come-a-longs had a fairly short working length of 16' or so (vague on the distance now) it was necessary to constantly adjust the winches with one pulling or holding while the other was being reset for its turn, working back and forth until the trees came down, unearthed and with no stump left in the ground. And such is the workings of one who saw the orcs pulling down trees in The Lord of the Rings.

I learned then that cable costing 60% as much wasn't such a good deal, mainly because of the stretch and secondly on the danger of the line snapping and leaving the world with two of me.

Yeah I don't believe it had ever been cleaned.

Seems like a pcv delete or bypass would prevent this dirty/oil from happening at all.

I know they are popular with Honda car s and Duramax trucks.

Just wondering if anyone has tried it with a 4.7.

Did a headlight restore job today....took exactly an hour beginning to end including waiting 15 min between the 2 clearcoat applications.

This is the product...3M with UV protective clearcoat...$30 at Pep Boys:

    Before:

After the two dry sands...500 then 800 grit:

After the 3000 grit wet sand:

All wiped off and ready for the 1st clearcoat application:

    After the first clearcoat application:

And the final product after the 2nd clearcoat application dried:

I'm pretty happy with it.... we'll see how it holds up.

Loving the setup and wouldn’t ask for more!

Just finished installing OME 2885 coils with Bilstein 5100 (1st notch) and 1.5” Supreme Suspensions wheel spacer.

Also, installed new tires; Discover Cooper A/T M+S - 285/75/R16 on Tacoma TRD rims.

    Previous measurements (floor to fender):
    - Front: 34”
    - Rear: 37”

    New measurements (floor to finder):
    - Front: 37.5”
    - Rear: 38”

P.S. No rub anywhere! Of course I had to remove the front mud guards.

Removed lighter and installed USB ports. (I placed the lighter below since I was missing the cap but ended up just tossing it so on the hunt for a 12v cap!)

Thanks man! No lift in rear. Just wanted to level and fit the 285s. By the look it’s pretty level - by measurements it’s 0.5” lower in front.

Last project for the day was replacing the long ass antenna!

Got it from Amazon: AntennaMastsRus - The Original 6 3/4 Inch is Compatible with Toyota Tundra (2000-2020) - Car Wash Proof Short Rubber Antenna - Internal Copper Coil - Premium Reception - German Engineered https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NALK2FC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_MnW2DbXQ23YM8

most importantly, reception is the same! At least I haven’t noticed a difference.

The Atoto A6 Pro head unit comes with (2) USB ports but they don't have a way to "mount" so I used this guy to connect to the head unit and secure in the cigarette lighter hole.

Worked perfectly. (1) USB is a fast charge and the other is technically for the DVR camera that Atoto sells but also charges.

I might need to get that model for my other 12v outlets. Or at least one of them. Maybe leave one alone just in case I need to use a traditional 12v socket.

Got the secondary visors in. Poked 3 holes with bolts ground to a point for 2 then use the clip on the visor to mark where the 3rd went.
Headliners ready to go out for getting reupholstered

Just gotta order new main visors and dynamat the roof then line with the foam I’ve got... should kill ALOT of wind noise.

Looks damn good. Looks like a professional job. Wouldn't it have been easier to paint them before installing?

Sure, but paint won't be in until next week and I had to drill the holes anyway. Not hard to remove them for paint in a few days and then I have all the holes in the frame already.

Added a cool picture of the rear mount with gussets hot metal glue gunned. Oh and I can still curl each side, but I bet they are about 90lbs. Getting to the point where I have to be careful throwing them around so I don't twist something. Lots of leverage over the 96" length.

I like to dry fit things before paint. Just in case a slight change is needed. Eliminates painting twice. Or, a scratch on fresh paint during hole drilling time. Nice work!
