Weird I guess wheelers doesn't carry OME anymore. Toytec should and they also have a sale going on

    Another option is firstgenoffroad.com
This guy uses dobinson springs and Billy 5100s on bottom notch

I filled up 21.6gal yesterday at $2.09/gal iirc. Gotta love Houston and lack of state sales tax. At least you got shell. They make good gas. I buy the cheap crap lol

I've been considering a full Dobinson's setup too. Assembled coilovers (2 inches of lift) and rear shocks shipped to my door for $850 from Dobinsonsdirect.com...I would need to use an AAL as well....decisions decisions.

If you get an AAL the only way to go is progressive 3 leaf style, don't waste money on a single AAL. The ride quality between the two is vast and the singles can snap in half under too much stress. Of the 3 makers of progressive AALs for our trucks I'd avoid icon, due to bad reviews and either go with wheelers off-road or toytec

Went to the junk yard. Found an old low profile roof rack and I am now restoring it to put on my first gen camper shell. ABE2F51D-3D64-4067-A641-BF310ACF4FDE.jpg

Yea, I was probably going to go with Wheelers...but the Toytec one is interesting...it says to leave the overload leaf in while Wheelers says take it out...

    Wheelers...

Experimenting with the red. Probs will change the red ashtray and drink holder back to black, but will live with it for a while. Easy work. Still have a few details to work out.

The overload is optional on any AAL. I kept it in on both my Tacomas with wheelers AAL because they were pavement princesses. But my tundra I removed it for more flex offroad. The only reason to keep em in is to get the most lift possible. You remove em for a better ride but less lift. The likely reason they say to remove em is for off-road prowess and possibly the included ubolts aren't long enough to keep the overload in place. But they should be. The wheelers ones always were. It's up to you. If you have a shell on your bed or an rtt I'd keep the overload.

Anyone familiar with these spring leaf clips/keepers? I’ve being looking around for some stouter versions, which come already assembled on some of these heavier duty springs sets, but this design looks like the only type available sold as a pair. Seeing the stouter version already installed on AAL options with them has reminded me to ask.

Need some feedback, as these will be installed on new OE replacement leaf springs purchased separately.

Thats the style, but like you can’t find the inside dimension of 2 3/8

Might end up with doing a fold over design and adding some Fuse before doing install. The Fuse will act as a rubbery cushion preventing rub and rattles. Fuse will be added to clamps and dry prior to install.

Right now, I’ve added squared u-bolts on the OEM originals which splayed and are clunking on slow turns. I’ll add these in addition to the poorly designed C clamps (like OEM).

Possibly, I maybe able to re-use the ones added last year.

Where are you going to source the OEM leaf packs? I thought someone said they don't make them anymore.

Probs will do those General Springs for $129 each. Another $80 each for OEM shackles and about $40 for errata.

    $480 totes

My OEM springs still have good spring (no sag), but they splayed from the badly designed keepers. If it was easy to just redo these I would, but better in this case to go all new and install a good set of keepers along side the ones that come with.

It should be easy enough to make your own keepers. A piece of 1/8" flat stock and a 3/8 shoulder bolt would be the only supplies you'd need. Maybe add a can of the bed liner you're so fond of paint them.

Make a cardboard mock up to figure out the length, cut with a hack saw, clamp it in a vise, hammer it into shape, drill a couple holes. Shouldn't take much more than an hour to do all 4.

One side welded with the exception of some more gussets and one side about half welded. Maybe tomorrow I will have them mounted. I am thinking of trying the steel-black for these guys. I suppose I should be ordering that tomorrow also.

Developing some final plans with the interior colors scheme now that I can see yesterdays work with the naked eye. Not sure when it will happen but it should look pretty good once its all done. Plan is to remove front seats and door panels for properly performed job. I’ll add some Purple Carrot insulation throughout interior under the existing carpet. On the fence about ordering some new speakers since the door panels will be off and I don’t want to remove them ever again after this. Might call this Crutchfield place to speak with a human.

I'm quoting my own post for @Professional Hand Model you'd also need a length of 3/8 black pipe to cut spacers for the bolts.

Yeah. Its a Vegan Food Delivery Service. Keeps my skin healthy. They deliver in boxes with this nice thick recyclable insulation. An example pic is in my build thread. Save the whirled with whirled peas!
