Also, it is a time consuming...and slow task doing so, but we are expanding our database of Sequoia ECUs for better sequoia support.

@OVTune I noticed dealers have sometimes 3-6 ECUs marked as "compatible/supersedes" Are you aware, or is there a way to know which ECUs are compatible and/work with others. Example if YOU have listed x ecu as supported for tunes, thats listed as a compatible ECU by Toyota OEM but not the exact same number. Is it safe to use that and/or automatically include that in our compatible ECU tune list? Or is there NEVER an ECU that would work with another ECUs Binary code dump? Dont laugh at me if I am totally not grasping this all!!!!

I'll be making a revision to our instructions and we have a link to download JUST the logger, not the flash manager + logger package.

@OVTune I got like 12 mpg on a long, flat stretch of highway where I normally get at least 17. Making the return trip tonight, I'll see if it happens again. Don't have my cable to log, unfortunately.

N/A or supercharged it would be nice if people let us know when reporting milage as I assume a big difference?

Also keep in mind ethanol % varies greatly. And affects milage massively. I got 15.5 mpg (worst ever 100% highway milage) on a 350 mile leg of 11 hr road trip 4 weeks ago on 25% ethanol gas, where as the same exact stretch of highway the last 3 road trips with same weight speeds etc was 18 on 5% ethanol.

This was meter and hand calculated. I also do the (bad for the evap system) full tank fill which takes about 5 extra minutes at the pump of slowly topping the tank off until you cant fit another drop. This gives 100% accurate hand calculated results tank to tank. The meter is incredibly accurate when compared to this method. Hand calc is terrible inaccurate (IF YOU DONT TOP OFF COMPLETLY) as depending on the speed of the pump (foaming the fuel) angle of the truck if gas station is not level, etc can make a 2-3 gallon difference in how much gas is in the tank. I currently believe the meter is 99% accurate per my precise measuring methods of mpg.

THIS MAKES ME SUPER ANGRY: My flex fuel sensor on my bluetooth OBD2 app, ethanol varies from 5%-25% at random pumps throughout the year. I get super mad as this because this is from random pumps in states that mandates up to e10 only. Should never be 25% ethanol blend coming out of the pumps loosely labeled e10. I do believe my trucks ethanol sensor is accurate as whenever I fill up with e0 in Iowa at there cenex stations my % reads between 1-2% as there is always some old blended fuel in the tank when I fill up. And when back to michigan its the same old 15-25% in michigan pumps.

It might not be the fuel you are getting... Before I got the latest second gen update from Toyota, mine would climb to 70-80% sometimes. Causing my truck to have rough starts and so on. But maybe it is the fuel. Since the update, I've never had it go above 10%

I thought the same thing thats why I kept a close eye on it. It has never gone over 25%. The last 2 years it rarely went over 15% in michgan. The last 2 months its been up 15-25% at random MI pumps. I believe since the opening of the federal fuel reserves about 2 months ago there flooding us with ethonal. If so it will go back to normal e5-e10 at the pumps. Which. surly hope so soon!!!

When we took that road trip 4 weeks ago I saw the same 15-25% in Illinois and Iowa standard 87, NOT e15-e25 pumps. When in Iowa right after a 87 e10 fill up on an empty tank I paid the extra for e0 to make sure my sensor wasn't lying and it went right back down to nearly 0% right after the fill up. about 5-10 minutes of driving. I have done this in the past to verify sensor and I have no other idea how to prove the accuracy other than this method? I dont believe my sensor is bad as its never gone over 25% or had any rough running issues or symptoms of a problem! The sensor is consistent the entire tank, and only changes after a fill up if it does.

You said it in your post, but i feel like I need to reiterate how bad it is to fill up your vehicle like that. You are taking a big risk in flooding your charcoal canister and vapor lines with liquid fuel. To repair that situation will be over $1000 if and when it happens. Would not recommend ANYONE doing this when you fill up. Is knowing your MPG down to tenths of a mile worth a $1000 repair bill???

Its also worth noting @Seuqoia11 that your truck does not have a sensor to directly detect your ethanol content. It is purely a calculation your ECM does based on your AFR sensors and the ECMs predicted rich/lean condition. Much less precise than other manufacturers flex fuel systems that do use an ethanol content sensor.

Good INFO!! The only reason why I do it is because out of ignorance in the past I have been doing it for 20 years without any issues with evap systems on all my cars. (still do on my 2 old cars every fill up lol! LOL) Recently when learning about this I quit doing it in the newer cars except on a trip once in a while I cant resist those exact numbers. Sorry its stupid I agree...!!!! :crapstorm: Kind of like how many of us are overweight and know it and dont fix it? :deadhorse:

It seems that what percentage of Ethanol is dispensed at a pump can be somewhat of a gamble. I was purchasing E0 at a station and happened to strike up a conversation with the owner. This was one of those stations where they still did auto repairs. The owner was telling me about all the early 2000's era vehicles that come in for starting/rough running issues. These vehicles, he was saying, weren't made to run on greater than the E10 that is the most we should be seeing at the labeled E10 pumps. One of the first things he would check was the E% in their tanks. He said that he would frequently find greater than E10, and up to E25 in these vehicles. He told me that he would ask the vehicle owners where they were purchasing their gasoline, and he said that they were almost always getting it at the cheapest place that they could. In his experience it was often the pumps at the chain grocery store just down the road. The vehicle owners were doing it for, or to use, "The Points" they were collecting for a price discount. It seemed that the station was diluting the gasoline with a greater amount of Ethanol than they were supposed to.

To stay somewhat OT, I've only used about a 1/4 tank since my last flash, and it has a lot of idle time on it. So I can't really give a valid MPG figure. Also, I'll be out of town for the next seven days and we're taking my buddy's EcoDiesel.

Wow never knew that!!!! I always assumed there was a sensor in the fuel system somewhere. Learn a lot on these forums thanks guys!! Another question would a fuel additive like injector cleaner or UCL "trick" the computer. Maybe if you get some "bad gas" like old or some ethanol fuel that has absorbed some water the ECU "thinks" it has higher ethanol % in it as it doesn't have the same energy or something?

The first time I put in Lucas UCL into my tank about 2-3 months ago I had 25% on the ethanol meter and thought it was tricking it, until later tanks did the same. Thats why got me started/thinking about why it we had higher ethanol or my meter so to speak was off as that was the first time since owning the truck I saw 25% ethanol. But long after running that in the truck its still 15-25% in michigan lately...??

If you care about your vehicle and fuel quality at all, you should only fuel up at Tier 1 fuel brands. My truck ONLY gets Shell, Sunoco, or Mobil Fuel and only from gas stations that get lots of traffic and has a high volume of fuel turnover. I also never fill up my truck at a gas station that is getting a fuel delivery. Fuel delivery trucks stir up all the sediment and water in the holding tanks.
