Debating on getting my side mirror caps line-x coated on my platinum. Wanna get rid of all the chrome. I’m definitely gonna have the brushed stainless steps taken off and have line x put on. Has anyone done this to their side mirrors? I already bought a set of color matched ones so I’ll probably just do this to the chrome ones. Any thoughts? Would love to see how this looks if anyone has photos of the side mirrors with line x.

May cause extra wind noise on the highway.

I don’t think it would cause too much extra wind noise. Is the line x similar in thickness and roughness as the Toyota factory spray in bed liner?

Line-X would have to encapsulate the whole mirror cap and you wouldn't be able to reinstall it. Color matched would be the way to go. I think you would be happier with that route.

Would be nice protection for debris chipping. You can definitely get just the cover bed lined. I’ve done it to many vehicles in the past.

just got off the phone with the guys at line x and he said it does not have to encapsulate the whole mirror. they can tape it off and just do the outward facing side in a light coat

did you do it yourself or have line x or some company do it? because he told me it would be about 20 per mirror, but you can get the duplicolor or the plastidip that is the bed liner version. i think it will look nice. and i already have another set of side mirrors in case i dont like how they turn out

Prep is key I guess. They originally did my rear bumper incorrectly and it peeled bc it wasnt encapsulated.

Yeah and I'm thinking that for $20 each mirror it's worth a shot. I'm trying to get rid of all of the chrome on my platinum. I already have color matched side mirrors, but have the chrome installed now so just debating on if i should do the line-x on the color matched or on the chrome.

Yeah for sure. I was also gonna get them to do my brushed stainless running boards. I think that will turn out nice.

I agree, definitely the boards. What are they charging to spray the boards?

I’ve done it myself with raptor liner via spray gun. Prep is key. No issues yet from one fella how bought a truck I lined. Been a couple years.

If I got a quote for $20/mirror, I’d say “See you in 30 minutes...”. I was going to spray the bumpers on my last truck as they were the last bits of chrome. My local Line-X shop quoted me $200 per bumper, or $350 for the set. Seems like you’ve got some good prices there.

Can’t wait to see the pics...

Yeah so $20 per side mirror and $125 per running board, I'm looking at around $300 total. I'm assuming that was for the standard spray. Gonna ask for pricing on the platinum line-x, since its a lot stronger and has UV protection. See the price difference and make a decision. Once I get those pieces done, all I'll have left to do for the de-chroming are the door handles. Just installed the tufskinz matte black tundra insert and it looks awesome and high quality. I actually really like the rims so I'm gonna leave them alone, plus they're already ceramic coated so I don't wanna mess with them. The door handles are gonna have to wait a while unless I decide to paint the current ones because the new ones for the 2020 with the smart entry are I think 450 or so from Roman.

I already bought color matched ones from cool springs. The plastic ones are cheap and flimsy compared to the chrome ones.
