This company is apparently going to start offering armor for 1st Gens. Here is the first set they did. I love my Skid Row's but I would have preferred aluminum to keep weight down. I really doubt I would hit something hard enough to destroy aluminum.

Company appears to be Ram Motor Sports Canada in conjunction with Element. I do not know when these will be available.

Yep, and a lightweight one at that. Or so it appears. Now we just need an option for the rear diff.

Jerry at BAMF used to make diff skids for the 8.4 taco’s. I’ll send him a shout out and see if they might fit.

A couple more, but I don't know if these are available.

    Adventure Off-road Fabrication?

Some of these rear bumpers don't appear to improve departure angles at all nor do they look any better than the stock bumper. :notsure:

Guess it comes down to who designs them and for what market. If you drive a mostly stock truck and were looking for deer protection I can see some being an ideal insurance replacement.

Some of them though.. Yeah, only a mother could love. Still, it's nice to keep a list running of who supports the 1st gens.

I would have to agree. Seems like finding a decent rear bumper will be difficult for my tastes. The nicest one I've seen is Brute Force but it's not listed on their website.

Super interested in the work by Adventure Off-roadFabrication. @because_wumbo-truck, saw your post on TacomaWorld, report back if they do work on first gen trucks.

I secretly wish someone would lightly bump into my rear bumper so I could get a new OEM bumper and spend 2 days trying to tap out those seized into the frame bolts.

I have yet seen a rear bumper look as nice as the OEM with its efficient use of space with style.

I have seen few nice front bumpers and many downright fugly ones. Only issue I see is weight. Something about hanging extra steel heft farther out past the designed front line doesn’t sit right with me.

Many of them do stick out but those are just heavy duty for hitting deer.and shit on the highway. A true off-road bumper should have a slim profile like so for higher clearance. My coastal off road bumper sticks out less than stock by like half an inch

Btw when I upgrade.my.rear bumper in 2020, my stock on will be for sale, it's not perfect and it's white. But it's in decent shape for its age and has the integrated Toyota tow hitch

The 5th gen 4runner cats get it easy, a slight paint scrape in the parking lot gets them enough money thru insurance to get full steel replacement, w swing outs and grill holders haha

A lot of the front B designs also require you to remove the crash crush blocks which is also super cool too! I went with a low profile design for our 4runner trying to keep down on weight, it’s already a lead turd driving down the road
    AA1EB6DE-376A-42DE-8BDA-2B6ECC07C645.jpg

What are you replacing it with?
I’m like two clicks away from ordering a costal rear kit, my buddy who can lay beads like no bodies business, needs a mini split installed and I smell a trade out! I want to see if I could put cut outs in the side plates along the bed for another shoe hole or step into the bed.

Either Coastal Off-Road or Brute Force Fab or I may have a local shop build me one. Either Shrockworks or Trail Toys.
