What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

What vehicle did you sell. The Avalon? You can't sell that Corolla until you hit 1 million miles.

FYI,
I bought that kit and the ford one which the strut is 6” collapsed and extends to 9” in case that size of a strut would work better.

 

Any idea what the poundage is on the strut?

 

No FAQ available on this spec. Says fits all Dodge 1500-3500. Must be heavy duty? Those big Dodge trucks and their tail gates seem heavy which is why I selected this assist strut. There are around 4k reviews on it. Lots of good and bad. Most bad was probably due to mal-installation technique or improper treatment when reading between the lines.

Feeling excited about this. Too bad it will be Tuesday till installation. Or, motivate en manãna?

Speaking of doing things tomorrow, I got this in the post today. @SkipL ,if this doesnt fix my brakes, you owe me money.

 

Chipped away at my rock sliders for a few hours. I think I'll pull them in 1-1.5" and start on the kickout tomorrow. Maybe I'll have one tacked together before date night.

My throttle also got stuck wide open today. Damn floor mat... Good thing I didn't panic and good thing my truck isn't very fast. Let off the gas... Still roaring. Tap the cruise off thinking it was my wife's car that likes to remember your last speed and jump back to it, still roaring, tap the brakes immediately after hitting the cruise button, and then I tap the side of the gas pedal with my foot and she's back to normal. No biggy, I was probably only going 95 real speed but thats about 130 to UHP.

 

Shim now! Or, sham wow?

Buy a cheap 140 mig welder with some gas and get the safety equipment obviously. Now, find Something that you want to make (start small), buy some beer and some scrap metal. Use an angle grinder to make your cuts and start with some angle iron. Be ready to get frustrated, have a moment of success, and then if you're really honest with yourself, you'll be disappointed with the quality of your work. Use the disappointment to make yourself better and before you know it you'll be the neighborhood fix it guy when someone needs hot metal glue gun work.

 

I’ve got a lil Miller 120, that I made sliders and a low pro bumper for the 4runner, I’m not proficient at all or really know what I’m doing but it’s fun and I get to say “I didn’t buy that, I built it”
I had a friend show me some tricks for downhill welding(we have to weld some flanges for a 4” butterfly valve on a chilled water line for work) so it’s always nice to have an expert to get tips and tricks from.
When I get my costal off road rear bumper, I will do a trade out with him to weld it, probably won’t grind any of the welds because they will be immaculate

 

When I 1st got the truck back the Bilstein was set about stock height, it felt smooth and a bit soft. We raised it to the 4th clip and reset the end links. Truck is firm but not overly harsh. I think I have it all correct now and I looked over the instructions and it looks the same as there pictures.

 

Having someone ask where you bought something and being able to tell them "I built it" is pretty fun. I had a guy at work ask me what long travel I had. I just told him that the only thing I purchased complete were the axle shafts and shocks. Not exactly true because the shocks had to be modified a bit and I used purchased joints and such, but still.

You sound like me. I considered buying a GS430 that I keep seeing but couldn't decide which car would leave the stable. Guess I'm not buying the Lexo.
