For my truck, it will make a click/light clang noise and feeling under the gas pedal when it shifts from 2nd to 3rd when the truck is first started in the morning or it’s been shut off for a few minutes. If I’m driving and come to a complete stop or have to slow down, it will not do it again, unless light mentioned above, it’s first thing in the morning or has been shut off for a few minutes. Any idea of what this might be and if it’s a thing to be worried about? I know at some dead stops the transmission shifts a little harder from first to second gear, but it depends on either the day or how much gas I’m giving it/speed I’m going.

Hmm I don’t have any ideas for that. Could be many things. Sounds you can physically feel it on your gas peddle?

If I’m next to a car or something that is going to reflect the sound from underneath my truck, I can hear a slight click if I stomp the gas pretty hard. It seems to do it in the under load in situations like that, It may even do it on the 1st to 2nd shift and so-on, but that is harder to hear. My truck has done it from day one. I’m not too concerned. I can only imagine if I took it to the dealer, it would just give them a reason to drive the shit out of my truck and not hear it anyways.

On mine, it’s more of a “clunk” than a click. Probably a different thing all together.
This only happens shifting from 2nd to 3rd. and only when the truck is cold. After a few miles, no longer get the clunk. If I let the truck warm longer, this will eliminate the clunk as well.
Don’t know if this helps you or not.

I got this truck last April and haven’t done that yet. I’m sure I’ll do it soon when I guy 150,000 miles (just over 147,000).

Lol no joke with the dealer. That is good reference with what is happening with yours so I hopefully don’t have to worry much.

That helps knowing that I’m not the only one, thank you. For some reason I haven’t noticed it as it’s gotten colder (or I just don’t pay attention anymore) but I’ll pay attention toon this morning to see if it does it again.

Our gas peddles are drive by wire. Makes me wonder if your feeing solenoid clicking rather than a gear. My wife’s Sienna makes weird solenoid noises/clicks often.

I get a "clunk" sound in certain situations when getting on throttle after decelerating, also on decel during a downshift. If you feel it in the DBW throttle pedal...you may have a different issue altogether. A few easy things you might try:

-Grease all zirks on driveshaft (F & R for gigs)
-Grease the slip yoke/ splines under both driveshaft boots (if you have a needle fitting for grease gun)
-Check play in driveshaft, try to isolate the u-joints & see if they are worn/loose.

I believe there is a general consensus of some tundras rear driveshaft splines being "loose" or sloppy from the factory...causing a "clunk" or "click".
Best of luck on tracking it down.

    Great info, thanks!

when driving and listening for it this morning it didn’t happen (and I think that’s been the case for the last couple of weeks but I haven’t paid attention and didn’t post about this sooner). I’ll have my mechanic check those things when I go in for an oil change.
