Anyone have any experience with Toyota Techstream?...I want to disable my seat belt alarm, I can’t stand the beeping...and yes, before you ask, I wear my belt when on highway and for the most part, but when I’m working on my hunting property or doing other things that require frequent stops/getting out, it drives me insane...haha...truck is a 2020 Platinum, I already asked my dealer and apparently they’re one of the ones that won’t do it...so Techstream seems to be my only other option...unless another garage can hook into system and disable it as well???...thanks in advance

I’m more or less looking to see if anyone had used it, how easy it to utilize?...I’m not the greatest with computers but I can do the basics...I’ve watched a few YouTube videos already but none seem to show me what I really want to see...like how to get it up and running from the get go

If that's all you want it for why spend all that money on techstream? Just get a belt clip that you can switch out when needed...

It’s not all, according to what I’m seeing there’s a ton of things you can do with it, but that’s what got me looking

And it’s not that expensive, from what I’m seeing it’s like $30-$40 range, not bad at all

I just used it to change a bunch of settings on my 2011. Bought the software and cable off ebay years ago and have used it on my wifes Prius, Tacoma (sold). I turned off my seatbelt chime, and buzzer for the door lock and unlock. Its easy to work with but helps if you have an older windows laptop.

Yea that’s what I’m unsure of, some reviews say you need a certain windows, some don’t...it seems like it’s pretty straight forward, I just don’t wanna mess anything up...haha...thanks!

You wont! I've used it on 3 different vehicles and 3 times on my Tundra. I changed something then changed it again. Also had the battery disconnected for an hour or so to change out my clockspring and when reconnected, the ECU remembered all my settings.

From what I remember, the ebay ad said works with windows up to blah, blah. My laptop had a newer version of windows and it still works.

    1. connect cable to OBD and laptop
    2. turn vehicle ignition to run
    3. start software

Ok awesome, thanks for your help!...so basically I just download latest Techstream software onto my computer, plug the OBD connector (from Amazon) into laptop, then plug into truck OBD, turn ignition to on, and start software?...sorry if I’m being a pain, but it seems pretty simple so I want to make sure I’m not missing anything, thanks again!

From what I’m seeing all you pay for is the cord, the software comes with it...that’s what I’m seeing on Amazon anyway...and I don’t believe you can share the software to other computers, but could be wrong on that

Correct. I went with the 1.4.1 from Aiduxin on Amazon and it works great. Was able to turn off the seatbelt chime and stop the seat/steering wheel from moving every time you put the key in the ignition. Made it easier getting the software from him rather than trying to pirate and configure it myself (that's not to say the software from amazon isn't pirated).

I've bought one off ebay before but its out of date. It comes with a cord and disc. When I had my tacoma I shared the disc with everyone via google drive and they all used it. I just need the updated version that supports 2019.

Yea I just messaged a seller on Amazon to see when they will be releasing the latest version of Techstream, the last update was on August 29th that supports all 2019’s and some 2020’s, including Tundras, so waiting to hear back....the lastest version is 14.20.019...thanks for your help!

Yep. My software only let me change certain things. Important stuff that might mess up the vehicle operation were locked out. Dealer only settings

Any follow-up on this? Curious to see how it went for you?

Does anyone know for sure if this also allows you to program key fobs as well??

Went well for me, it was a little confusing at first to set up but if you follow the directions that come with it to a tee you can’t mess it up...haha...I disabled my seat belt alarm with no problems at all and still have to play around with it, there’s a ton of options you can customize...I haven’t looked into the key programming yet, I’ll see if I can get ya a definitive answer!

This is the one I bought and used it to program new keys successfully https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07X8GQKTJ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share. You do need a laptop, an old xp 32bit works the best but I used a Vista 64bit, just requires a little extra work to get the driver to work with 64 bit systems. When using techstream you need to program the remote and chip separately. These copies of TechStream and drivers are all unofficial and usually report as Trojans by antivirus systems but they do work and haven't had an issue but obviously best to use an old laptop you're not worried about. I programmed the keys and then brought them to Home Depot to get them cut. First time I only programmed the remote and not the chip and found out what happened when the chip isn't programmed, the engine will just crank and not start. These are the blanks I used for 2019 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07982NRKQ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share. One thing that will not work for me in TechStream is the Data List for engine but everything else works.

this is the one myself and many others have used. I use a tactrix adapter, not one of the cheapo ones off Amazon or eBay. Not that big of deal if you are just doing seatbelt beepers, but if you are gonna apply TSBs I’d highly recommend getting a tactrix cable as it’s possible you’ll have issues with the Chinese knock offs and end up with a bricked ecu.

    https://drive.google.com/open?id=1rHumlcFInkXdfAGgap0XS0KijFZumfSA

    Here’s the cable

    https://www.tactrix.com/index.php?o...=17&vmcchk=1&Itemid=53&redirected=1&Itemid=53

I’ve flashed the ecu (TSB updates) on both my trucks in addition to the customizations and other stuff.

With that adapter are you able access engine data list with TechStream? Also what what VIM driver do you use with it? How do you obtain TSB updates since TechStream can't connect to TIS?

Yes you can do everything. The program is fully functional. The TSB updates are usually floating around in threads. That’s where I got mine.

since I’ve got the tactrix adapter, it’s the tactrix open port driver.

when you run the key generator, make sure you run it for the right TS version. I think it was option 2 if I remember right (it’s been a bit since I’ve done it). There’s been a couple people that had to use one of the other keys it generated for some reason.

I used option 2 and correct version. I'll give the rest of the keys a try.

I would just ask service to do it at your next service. 5 min job and the manual says it’s an option. My service department has done it 3 times for me.

Believe it or not my dealer wouldn’t do it...I asked, and they said they can’t due to safety reasons...not the first time I’ve heard this either, most dealers will but unfortunately I happen to have one that won’t...crazy...I just got the Techstream and did it myself, no biggie...I’m actually glad I got it anyway, there’s a lot you can customize other than the seat belt chime
