What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

A sunglass holder would've been nice. Mines got a.stupid garage door opener holder instead. I plan to cut it up and mount switches up there. Then I'm going to remove the slide out cupholders and add a CB radio

 

I want.to know how to remove it as.well so we can use the cheaper earlier model headers. The vvti headers are.stupid expensive.

 

What caliber? Just kidding. Might make a good place for a checkbook or to stash more valuable things. Kind of a hidden compartment if I'm understanding what it looks like to me.

Looks like if one had the right skills and proper cutting tool, then that foam could be cut to fit anything small in size. The plastic insert would slip right back on top.

 

From what I read, you can remove all you want, but you will still need the Hewitt bypass to trick the ecu so it never sees the need to engage the pumps at open loop startups

 

I was wondering what all can be removed honestly, I don’t know if the Hewitt kit will work correctly with the diverter valve and pump Mia and not plugged in.

 

Clearly you would need the block off plates installed somewhere or something plugged(I don’t know the entire system) but as long as a component isn’t being called upon by the ecu, the system shouldn’t know any different if it’s there or not

Yep...that's about what I did, too. Extensions long enough to clear everything for a clean sweep on the torque wrench.

 

Thanks. It's come a long way in a little over a year since I purchased it. It was bone stock besides steps and a brake controller.

 

So it comes with the starter relay connection and that's the only thing that has to be spliced? Sounds good to me.

 

Well it looks like i need a new carrier bearing. Possibly u joints.
I'm at the shop getting the oil changed and had em grease everything and they noticed the carrier bearing is shot. I haven't noticed much vibrations, just the occasional drive line bind when coming to a stop. I guess that'll have to wait til 2020.

 

For those of you running a winch, what brands and weight rating do you prefer for an AC? I may be able to scoop up a.winch from a local 3rd gen taco owner for cheap. I figure our trucks weight ratings are close enough. I'm not sure of the winch details just yet.

 

I have a 3ton on my Taco and it works great, I would assume it would be fine for a 1st gen Tundy too.

Not related to the last few posts but this thread has become more of a rambling discussion than "what did you do to your tundra". I would say 85% of the posts here are off topic. We really need another sticky'd thread where we can ask questions and what not.

 

Warn recommends GVWR X 1.5 which puts you in the 9500lb range.

Same. That's why I said we need another one. When I joined a year ago it was around 100 pages and going through it was daunting. Now it's approaching 400.

That's not the purpose though. There were 3 pages where people rambled about mathematics..

 

When I hooked up my scan gauge 2 up to the truck and scrolled the gauges, I noticed my tire pressure was at 30-32 on all 4, today I aired them up to 39.5. I will have to wait until the next fill up to see if mileage increased(currently at 10.9mpg on 91oct, 33s, 99.7% all city driving)
