A disturbing fact about a huge number of Canadians is that they're not proud to be Canadian, they're proud to not be American. Meanwhile they lap up amd emulate US culture with a spoon. This is especially prevalent in southern Ontario and southwestern BC. Canadians really don't have a cultural identity other than "We're not American". Patriotism is nearly non-existant here.

It really is a shame, especially since so few have seen any of the US outside of tourist hot spots. I've travelled a fair bit Stateside and love the US. Nearly every American I know is a wonderful person on a level not seen here. Canada is certainly a good place to live but we could learn alot from our cousins to the south.

One thing I'd really REALLY like to see added are factory auxillary switches. My super duty, and every super duty I've driven, has these prewired to an enclosure for easy device wiring. IMG_20191108_130613794.jpg

I was in Canada on Sept 11th, 2001. There was a healthy show of support for the US for several weeks after the attacks. Lots of American flags everywhere. The Canadian military members that I met were all hopeful that they would get to participate with helping the US find Osama B. and annihilate Al-Qaeda.

Most of the Trans-Atlantic flights that were in the air that day were re-routed to Eastern Canadian airports and people were stranded there for several days. Once all of the hotels were full (almost immediate) the local Canadian citizens invited the rest of the stranded travelers (mostly Americans) into their homes, providing free lodging, laundry and meals until they could continue to their intended destinations.

Unfortunately, for a few days some students on college campuses also went so far as to target all middle-eastern looking individuals for unprovoked public threats and abuse. (I only include that part because it was part of the spectrum of emotions and impulses I witnessed while I was there.)

In my view Canada and the US are like siblings. They make sure the we know when they don't agree with us and may even say that they don't like us, but they've got our back when it really counts.

Now, if we could just figure out how to get them to take the Queen off their money....:monocle:

Sorry buddy, but that's a fair bit of bullsh!t right there!!!! You may speak for yourself, but you certainly don't speak for the rest of us.

Plenty of patriotism here in Canada. And we certainly admire and respect our friends to the south. We may not agree on everything, and different things are better in either country, but you don't share the world's largest undefended border for as long as we have without a huge measure of amity and cooperation.

Oh sure, we get along great with our neighbours. US/Canada relations are awesome. I'm just stating my experiences with people I know and talk to. It could be a generational thing. I'm 30 and my brother is 26. Most friends of mine are in the 25 to 35 age group. I see more Canadian patriotism in my parent's age group than my own.

Don't get me wrong. I love Canada and am happy to live here. I think Canadians are proud of what they are, just in a totally differeny manner than how Americans are proud of being American. For example, driving through a neighbourhood in Canada you don't see many Canadian flags. In the US, the Americam flag is flown by a huge number of households.

I just see so much ignorance from my fellow Canadians regarding the USA that I really have to shake my head sometimes.

Anyway, we'll argee to disagree. One of the things that makes both countries great is freedom of speech. :)

So now that we've gone right off into the weeds and are at risk of being uneighbourly, let's all get back to bitching about the new Tundra. :D

Wtf are you talking about man. The new tundras aren’t going to get 1/5 of the bullshit you just spewed. They’re the apple of car manufacturers. They aren’t going to add a bunch of shit because the other people did it and in a half-assed manner. They make small changes over time when the technology and mechanics have been proven to work. If you want all of that shit in your truck to buy a ram and regret it and pay 65k. I just bought a 2020 platinum knowing full well that a new gen is coming soon, why? Because I know I’m gonna love the truck, It’s gonna work and there aren’t gonna be major problems with it. I think the OP is more suited to buying a Chevy Silverado or Dodge Ram and saying look how good the 12” screen looks while ignoring the transmission problems. GTFO

It is, but everyone has off days and messes up.

The true "offense" is that when the error was pointed out and the whole thing could have been defused with a simple "oops, my bad. I'll do better" it was doubled down on with a "cry about it" comment.

The funny part to me was that I've had some interactions with you, and I know that the new guy (I know, I'm still new too) has no idea what he's stepping in. With or without mods being involved, it's a losing battle for him.

Ahhh yes, we both have junk in the boot-trunk, eh? I say "EH" just from being mesmerized by Bob & Doug as a young professional drinker, but that's a Wisconsin thing too, eh?

I loved Canada, especially the coastal BC areas and will definitely go back there as we never got to Banff or Whistler for the winter skiing/snowboarding stuff. EVERY Canadian we met was super-friendly, even the Trooper that gave me the speeding ticket. The Canadian mosquitoes really are the size of an African swallow, and they will mistake you for a Red Cross blood donor getting beyond your plasma and to the bone marrow.

Yes, I picked up that the OP allegedly did not write the Op-Ed on a wish list, but the original author does sound like a thinly veiled Silverado fan. These folks are called "Merchants of Doubt"; they post these little op-ed pieces about the competition which are generally demeaning, and are meant to tear down sales numbers to benefit Corp. Xxxx, in this case it appears to be a GM/Dale Earnhardt..." #3 is gonna win this year" idiot. (Yes, I know #3 is dead, it's how I poke fun at the dead horse of Government Motors.) When I worked for GM it was a HUGE deal when Toyota went in to the big circle jerks called Nascrap with the Camry/car/racing. HUGE. Toyota was a HUGE discussion point in our meetings on how they were eating GM's lunch.

Toyota SHALL R&D the next level of "WTFH did they do to their new truck?!" :-0 and we shall flock to it. Rear locker, eh? :canada::cheers:

Im excited to see the new truck, but i absolutely love my 2nd gen's simplicity. Only real addition i want to add is a back up camera. Sure i would want more fuel efficiency, its important in todays age. But i bought the tundra knowing its short comings. Its track record outweighs its extra cost in gas. Im just hoping the new Tundra is still a Tundra. I also would love a more basic option, i dont want a giant touch screen center console, dont need navi, or sirius radio. Dont need power folding mirrors or those extra bells and whistles. But i still need 4x4 and you know what throw some heated seats in there while youre at it, winters are cold here.
