It was mainly just grimey dust and a super sad used car lot “low miles” sticker jammed at the front of the bed. It also had a funky funk under the liner:) I’ll be looking into options of a relay box or maybe just a USB/cig 12v power pod near the tailgate on the bedside. Monstaliner is what I’ll be using, I can’t decide between “doomsday” or “rolling coal” for the color, I will be keeping the bed rail caps but painting about an inch below them to cover rub marks from POs topper.

I just used a dry replacement filter. I think it was afe. I've had pretty good luck with the dry element cotton or whatever filters. No idea if it runs better or not.

I screwed with different materials and offsets to make some rock sliders. Pretty sure I have it all figured out and I'll be buying some 2x2 tube for the main length parts today. I think I have a game plan for my front bumper now too. At least for now I'm going to focus on the skid plate area and build up from there. We get a new laser installed at work soon so I'm thinking .25" or .187" aluminum skids sure would be nice with some mesh panels.
I also gooped some silicone into the steering shaft seal. What a mess and yes it had a big tear in it. I might just get a new one because I don't think I sealed it at all.

@Darkness How are the brakes coming along? Also, you mentioned adjusting the brake pedal. How is that done?

Also, does anyone know how to fix a squeaky brake pedal? I assume there is something up under the dash that I could lubricate. I get a squeak when I press the brakes.

There is a pushrod that works kind of like a tie rod. You loosen the lock nut and spin the rod to adjust, then tighten the lock nut. There is also the brake light switch that kind of acts like a bump stop, that can be adjusted as well.

I haven't got back at it yet, might not have time until the weekend after this one.

Replaced; timing belt kit, front cam seals, crank seal, valve cover gaskets, serpentine belt, transmission filter and fluid, Bilstein 5100's, suspension Maxx extended sway bar links and oil change with liqui moly.
I got my truck back Tuesday, driving a couple days to feel it out. Goes back to shop tomorrow to lift the front more. I'm impressed with the liqui moly, the engine is smooth and it is noticeable.

Anyone know if any of the truck cap companies make nice fiberglass caps for the 8ft bed tundras.

Debating on cap or tonneau. Not doing an aluminum cap though..

@FirstGenVol guess what? I have brakes again :muscleflexing:

My wife decided she wanted to bake. I got tired of hearing her throw pots and pans around so I went to the driveway to inspect the booster check valve. I applied 18psi (I think) with a mityvac and it held. I tried blowing through a tube into the check valve, it didnt accept air. I checked the air passage way from the intake to the tube that feeds the check valve, that was clear.

I took out the lower dash and went to adjust the brake light switch, figuring at least I could fix that for now. While I was down there I kept checking the clearance and pushing the brake pedal. I wondered why it was clicking. I stuck my head and my flood light in there and realized a late night error. Its embarrassing but I'll say it just as a learning lesson.

On the brake pedal there is an arm. That arm connects to the booster by a clevis on an adjustable rod. This is what I mentioned when you asked about how to adjust pedal play. That brake pedal arm has a hole for the pin that goes through the clevis.
    PicsArt_11-07-09.18.14.jpg

When I went to adjust the brake light switch, which operates by acting like a bump stop on the brake pedal arm, I noticed an extra hole for the clevis pin. I didnt remember an extra hole... I pushed the pedal a few times and noted that the clevis was shifting too much. Holy crap the pin wasnt through the hole, it was behind the brake pedal arm! I fixed that and adjusted the light switch, the pedal felt way better. Went for a drive and it stops like a god damned champ!

I am really loving my Bakflip G2 (Double Cab.) I had a shell on it when I bought it new in 06 but a few years later I got tired of stuffing 2 to 4 Mtn bikes underneath it. I switched to a Fiberglass tonneau with a rack on top of it that could hold 4 bikes. That was great for years until one to many dirt roads with the weight of 4 burly Mtn bikes on top. It wore out all the mechanical parts of the tonneau. I removed it back in the spring and ended up buying the Bakflip G2 folding tonneau. It's very light and folds up in no time and can be removed solo with in 5 minutes.

Drove it to work. Brakes feel good, no abnormal noises. Still feels like a danger run like something will go wrong but so far so good.

Tonight I'm doing the oil, rotating tires and checking tire pressure, then washing. I can't wait to cruise it to San Diego tomorrow.

I installed LEDs in the map lights and doors. They look awesome, really makes the truck seem newer. I do need to figure out what bulb the rear dome light is though. It wasn't included in the Sealight kit I bought. It's a cylindrical shaped bulb.

Got all that stuff I said I would do done. Event filled the gas tank. Saw another Tundra in the road and threw up the TRUCK GANG sign.

Picked up a new thing for my new garage. I like it quite a bit. It has a cool foot pedal that speeds up getting the pad to the frame.

Started building my sliders tonight. Unfortunately I think I killed my plasma so I might be waiting a few weeks to finish. Huge bummer considering I was making good progress and probably would have had one side mounted tomorrow.

Yep. The good news is I can start on my front bumper and skid plate if I can't get the plasma running again. The better news is I'm going to the desert Sunday no matter what I get done in the shop.

Will do. I'll probably throw the brackets in solidworks too. Right now I just have them saved 2d. The plan was to make this set and use what I learned to make a more refined set so each mount is 1 piece. Right now it's two pieces I'm welding together. I didn't want to add more time by cutting them at my shop and bending them at work.
