Toyota put out a new accessory power tailgate lock, and here are links to them in the store:

    Double cab
    https://parts.toyotaofcoolsprings.c...ilgate-lock-tundra-long-bed-6-5-ft-pk3b634jl0

    Crewmax
    https://parts.toyotaofcoolsprings.c...lgate-lock-tundra-short-bed-5-5-ft-pk3b634js0

They made two different kits based on the bed length of the truck, so 6.5 ft beds get the first link, and 5.5 ft beds get the second link.

I'm also including both sets of installation instructions attached to this post. It states that it will only work on 2018+ models, and I'm assuming that is due to the wiring, but if any of you 2014-17 guys want to grab one and figure out what it takes to install one of these, I'll gladly sell you one. We can help other guys out if you post up what you did to make it work as well.

Copy of the "owners manual" included in the kit:

    Awesome!

This is such a nice feature to have.

Nice feature. Will be nice to know if it works on older than 2018 trucks. One of the things I miss about my old Ram 2500 over the current Tundra.

That’s awesome! Seems like the kits would be the same since the trucks are the same length but either way it’s really cool they are offering this. I also like the little details like the wiring protector bezels being replaced with some that are meant for two wires. Good details.

Thank you for the install manuals. Just bought this and I only received the owner's manual part. Hope to tackle this in the next couple weeks.

Is there a different one that will work on long beds?

    @Roman strikes again. Thanks, brother.

I'm curious, is it common for Toyota to offer features aftermarket that weren't offered when the truck was new?

For the 8ft bed? Not that I'm aware of.

It is definitely not common. Toyota lags behind in the accessory department for sure.

You can probably extend the harness(es) to make this happen. Unless the lock mechanisms are different between the 3 bed lengths, I'm not sure why extending the harnesses won't work. Can't/won't solder? Use self-solder splice connectors.

Has anyone done this at the dealer? I had them quote me on it and they said 5 hours of labor, that seemed a little high. Thoughts?

I did the aftermarket version of this in my 2014 last year, it took a couple hours.
    There isn't that much it.
No way would I spend a dime having a dealership do it..

Please please please post if you install one. I like my pop-n-lock, except for how noisy it is. Sounds like someone is stuck in the bed pounding on the tailgate.

    TIA!

Is this actually a new product or just a rebranded pop-n-lock?

You can also get a harness off of eBay that prevents you from cutting any wires.

Well if the plug and play harness is good for 14-19, I'd guess the OEM toyota one that comes with the power lock should link up too.

Pop and Lock is 90 ish....plus this 40 dollar harness makes it the same cost as OEM. The OEM one is 134 through Sparks Parts and Roman....

But does the OEM come with the harness or do you have to cut the wires?
