Rc SC Tundra Pro body!

I know what's on my Christmas list for my Traxxas Slash.

 

Freaking awesome!!! But I looked into it that's jus the body cover what is actual RC u use???

 

It's the short course rc from proline. I think it's called traxxis or something like that.

 

The body doesn't come with mounting holes on it so you can ream them out with any of the 1/10th scale short course trucks. There's a ton of them out there now. All the options you can think of. I used to race the 2WD versions. They are a LOT of fun.

Wow, these have come a long way from the Associated RC10's (and Tamiya Frog) that I had when I was a kid.

 

Turbo optima I had and big foot. The good old days.

 

I got my 8yr old son a slash for Christmas. As I was searching online for it, I stumbled across this body, so I bought myself a slash as well and this body. It will be delivered today.

 

They're a lot more fun when you have someone to play with!!!

 

Very cool indeed! Find a local RC track so you both can get bit with the "RC Racing Bug!" I hope to get back in to racing again one of these days.

 

We've got a local hobby shop/ race complex here in town. We will be hitting it up for sure. When I was 12 or 13 I raced paved oval cars, got real expensive quick. About 8 years ago I got into RC Rock crawling big time. This is my next RC venture.

 

I know you right! The bug is contagious isn't it.
I really miss running nitro...the sound, smell, getting drilled while marshalling.
I had a couple SC10 that I ran short course with.

Just need to find the right colors to match my midnight black on my big truck. Hope my wife finds my Christmas list

 

I am a nitro fan, but over the last few years around here everyone has went to battery (racing wise). If your looking at something to beat around in the back yard I would say battery operated.
I liked the tuning side of nitro, but it is so much easier to throw a battery pack in and go at it.
Either way its just like any other hobby.... faster, bigger, etc = $

I've raced both nitro and battery. I personally thought the nitro was great (like Phillip said...the sound, the smell) but the cost of fuel ($20+ a gallon) is up there. I only pay $10 a gallon for racing fuel for my race car! Then if (or more likely when) you crash one you'll spend just as much fixing it as you did to buy it. The 2WD battery powered short course trucks, in my opinion were the most fun to run because there was more people able to afford to run it and it takes someone who can wheel it to drive a 2WD. The downside to that is you get stuck marshaling the nitro stuff, to Phillip's other point.

Yup, me too. I decided last night to get my daughter one for Christmas. Online won't make it here in time. Started looking for hobby shops, but they look pricey. What the hell do I do? I have all Friday to go shopping. If I can find a decent one for around $100, I'll buy 2. Any suggestions from you RC pros?

 

Joonbug you'll always pay more at the local guys because no one is ever big enough to carry enough inventory to get the pricing the online places have. Horizonhobby.com has a ton of cheaper 4wd 1/10 scales, BUT you have to get them shipped which is going to be difficult now I think.

I'm not sure what stores you have, but for 100 you may find a pretty decent one (or 2) at Wally world. I have bought some over the years for my nephew s . I got them a cool monster truck the last time.

Growing up Santa was cool enough to square me away with a buggy(that I still have) and a cool monster truck. Funny thing was that when I unwrapped them I remember they had a little dirt on them. Didn't really think too much about it at the age of 8 or so.
Later on I finally realized that flipping Santa was breaking in my new rides!!!
It's still a running joke with my dad.
I think I got the buggy at 8 and the monster truck around 10 or so. Good ol days

 

My girls are 7 & 9. But I definitely want to get atleast one for my 7 yo. She has a cheap toy one now but it's slow and the 4 AAA batteries run out in 30 minutes. I just want a decent starter car with atleast a rechargeable battery. There are no Wally worlds around here. The local hobby shop has stuff like this

Looks similar to $50 ones on Amazon but I have no idea. What do you think about that one? Would rather stay under $100 so I can buy 2. But time is running out.

I would be more inclined to get that rather than the cheaper Walmart ones.
Not trying to spend your money, but I like the one you showed us.... Another bonus with dealing local you can get personal service and speak to a human being! Well hopefully lol

 

You do get what you pay for with most of these. As I said I had the most fun racing the 2wd trucks and I had a Slash and later a Blitz. The Blitz was then better truck (mostly because of metal verses plastic running gears) but those things have so many interchangeable components. If you want a couple to bang around with, get something like a 1/10 scale truck with a full body on it so you're not breaking steering parts colliding mid air.

 

Those buggies are rocket ships though!

 

So it's not a $50 Walmart one they're trying to sell for $150? Makes me feel a little better. I'll go check it out. And she has tiny hands, I hope the gun style remotes fits her hand?

 

From what I am reading it is a pretty decent rtr . I will say that I haven't heard of or seen that particular one, but Spektrum is solid.
Comes with everything and you can get it quickly.
I think it is a fair price.

 

Oh and I had a good bit of Dynamite batteries and products with no complaint.

 

How long do the batteries last? Should I get a second?

I think the Nimh batteries around the 1800 range were around 15 to 20 bucks, but it's been a while.
