If you click on the actuator link to the picture on Amazon, the brass-colored piece of metal on the left side of hte picture is the mount. It's made to be bent. I used two sheet metal screws to attach it to the cross member inside the tailgate to line it up with the lock's stroke. Also, the L-shaped metal rod in the middle of the picture can be bent and manipulated. Honest, it's easy as hell. It has the added benefit of being easy to access again to tweak if needed.

Nice, I’m all for this if that piece of metal can be used, I always figured finding whatever metal to use to fab the bracket was more of a pain than to just cough up the $90. But if it comes with it and it’s just a matter of ingenuity, then count me in. Did you do the fold down mod too?

Yep, that's my truck in the video in the first post. Basically one of only two contributions I've ever made to this forum..... and I just resurrected this one from the old tundratalk- https://www.tundras.com/threads/auto-open-tailgate-mod-build.44113/

Oh, i should point out- my current Tundra came with the PNL whatever from the dealer, but I installed the $18 actuator on my two prior Tundras.....

Just realized you’re the dude who did the write up for the auto tailgate mod. Cool. Happen to know if the auto fold mod works with an aftermarket alarm? I use my alarm fob to open my doors, it doesn’t take 2 clicks tho. 1 click opens all doors. Will this cause me to potentially run into issues following your directions, you suppose?

I wouldn't think so. ON my 2019, I set the truck's computer/ head unit to where all 4 doors unlock on 1x with the key fob. The programming on the PAC TR-7 is set so that it only sends the juice to the tailgate latch actuators once it senses three unlock signals going to the door locks within x # of seconds. Oh, and you don't have to use the key fob to do it either- the unlock button in the cab works too...... Scares the shit outta tailgaters at 75 on the interstate when the tailgate drops.... or so I've heard.

Perfect, thanks. These two projects make all the sense in the world now.

    The Dirty T ( ^_^)_且

Yeah, don't know what happened, TT used to be "The" Tundra site but has died off. I've got quite a few how to threads over there (switched lighted center console, glovebox, puddle lights, etc) that I've been considering bringing over.

I got an e-mail that said you just posted "Perfect. Thanks for the info. One more question, those spring loaded compressors you use on each side seem to be in a position that they would smack the side of the tailgate instead of push it away from the truck to help lower it. What am I missing about those? " and came here to answer it, but I don't know where it went. Anyway, I only used one and you can't see it in the video (but it does look like they're sticking out the side of hte tailgate like the bolts in Frankenstein's Monster's neck)... I installed one that faces rear just to the left (inside) of the right brake light assembly in the tailgate jamb. Send me a DM if you need a pic, but I think there's a picture in the instructions shown in Post #12 of the auto-down thread.

I did the diy tailgate lock too. Works great and was a $19 addition to the vehicles security.

I realized i wasn’t looking at the pic correctly, and it was clear as day that they helped push out the tailgate, thought I could delete before anybody saw me being a dumbass, lol. You did mention 50lbs was too much force, what ft/lbs do you recommend?
