    Howdy.
I’ve seen some rear window switch relocation kits that have a longer wiring harness and been thinking about getting one. Having the switch on the panel with the light switches sometimes isn’t super convenient. Has anybody relocated their rear window switch and where did you move it too?

I hate that they moved it! In my 08 it was on the right side of the steering wheel not the left.

I wish cheaper kits were available too, my problem is that with the platinum, there are no blank switch spots. so I would need to swap it with a different switch which would require another extension kit for that switch.

    Watching...

And while we're there (on that part of the dash), why aren't the mirror adjustment switches backlit?? WTF?

Yeah that's really annoying. I added a cheap, small ,low lumen, led bolt light to mine and it lights it up. I do not understand why it's not backlit though.

@Roman any way to replace our dark switch with a backlit one from another model/year?

There is a switch that can be wired and fit, it's not from a Tundra and it's not plug and play. I think maybe from a 4runner or maybe sienna.

Not any from another Tundra, but possibly from a different model. Definitely not plug and play, though.

I moved mine to the panel in front of the shifter. I figured that if I put it there the front passenger can control the rear window too.

Moving this switch into the driver door window switches would be amazing. I hate having to reach down especially in the dark to fumble and find that switch to roll the back window down.

Agreed WTF Toyota? Plus the location is stupid. Every other vehicle I've owned has these controls on the arm rest where its easy to get to and use. Not on the dash where its completely inconvenient to access if you can find it in the dark.

Sorry about the picture quality. It's already dark here.

I moved the Tow/Haul button to where Toyota should have placed it from the factory as well. It wasn't hard. I just cut the pigtail from the wiring harness and spliced in enough wire to get it to the socket I wanted.

Why does it matter? I've rolled mine down once when I farted real bad that I couldn't even stand to smell it and that was it.

Possibly. I'd have to order in both switches and test them out first. First, I have to find a model that has a back lit switch. I was thinking the Land Cruiser, but we don't have any Land Cruisers in inventory. :(

That's fine that you don't use yours. But those of us on here looking for information on relocation do, and we're looking for options.

Loved it on the right when I briefly had my '13, wasn't crazy bout it being on left with all other switches, but I got used to it, no biggie for me

Sorry to break peoples hearts and hate to be the bearer of bad news but I don’t “believe” there is a single switch Toyota makes that will fix this issue. I spent a few full days at work (I know... bad employee) going over numerous platform wiring diagrams and researching every illuminated switch Toyota makes to see if it’ll work.. the tundras are the only platform I found that uses a CAN system for the mirrors... even the 2019 land cruisers don’t use the can system. Pretty disheartening after all the research.. I thought for sure the newer models LCs or LXs would have it.. nope. I could (and hope) I’m wrong, but figured I’d save some people a whole bunch of time. That being said, I’m hopeful Toyota will shift future vehicles over to this system and hopefully grab a switch of a 2022 LC or something.

there is one post where a guy bought an illumated switch and essentially used the clear piece and put that on our switch and added tiny leds. It’s a lot of work and not PNP, plus an increased risk of electrical fire. You can go that route but I wouldn’t. Anyway, just my $.02 on the topic.
