    Monet,

Is there a "correct" way of doing it so that everyone can help him and his little ones, especially with the holiday season coming?

I would think if people who are interested in helping Cory tell him in PM they want to help, then he can share how, either clothes or food or other ways can be arranged. He can do a group PM too.

So sorry this happened to you. I have helped a friend clean up his house (and yard full of trees) after his house was flooded.

I feel your pain. Glad you and your family were able to get to safety. Hope your move goes smoothly.

I thought you could get permission from the staff to do that in special circumstances?

“ I lost everything but my family...”

Then you haven’t lost anything. The rest of it is just “stuff”. The important things are safe.

    Also, fuck insurance companies.

    Too many…scratch that…not done yet.
Damn Cory...Sorry about the losses man! As all the others have said, your family's safe and that's all that matters.

My house burned two days before Christmas my senior year...lost nearly everything as well. Stuff is replaceable.
I get it that the insurance situation does not help matters any. If there's some chance that your plan did offer some kind of coverage, or you agent lead you to believe so, I'd say talk with an attorney.

Going forward and for any others reading this, do yourself a favor; Take an inventory of everything you have insured, value and take pictures of everything. If/in the event of disasters that destroy home/property, having your items, value and pictures cataloged will save you a lot of headache.

Best wishes on the move to CO! Godspeed!

Hi Cory. Fellow Vermonter here. I am sorry for what you are going through. Hopefully you can look at this in some kind of positive way as a new beginning to a better life in Colorado.
BTW... My wife and I were on our way home from a shopping trip in NH and spent hours trying to find a way around flooded roads/bridges to get to our home in St-Albans. I have never seen such wide spread flooding in Vermont before. Wishing you and your family the best of luck.

We flooded in 2016 and lost everything as well, just the clothes on our back. We did not have flood insurance because we were over a mile from the nearest flood zone.

Some thoughts on this, if it was declared a disaster (federally) there is money available from FEMA, try to stay away from SBA even though the push the hell out of it, it creates too many problems down the road. We were able to use 401K money to make up the difference. If you have any questions shoot me a pm and I'll try and answer them based on my experiences. You're going to hear a ton of info that's just not true.

EDIT: Saw that you are moving, good for you.
