Custom Grip Tape For Rock Sliders

    2019 Voodoo Blue TRD Pro
    Installed White Knuckle rock sliders on the new TRD Pro and was looking to buy some grip tape. Started looking at skateboarder sites that make custom designs for decks and came up with this. Was only $17.99 so maybe the cheapest accessory I'll ever buy. Created the design on Photoshop after borrowing Toyota graphic stuff online. Not a perfect job especially regarding the colors but like the way it turned out.     As someone who also used nonslip tape on their sliders, be careful. I ended up taking it off after two weeks because I never realized how often my leg came into contact with the slider til I ripped the skin off my leg a few mornings in a row. Passengers also did not like it due to scraping off several layers of their skin as well.

    Good point! I could totally see me doing that.I definitely see my wife and kid doing it. I plan on getting some, I was thinking of doing bedliner on the entire slider but I really just want them painted black. So I think I may tape off a few areas similar to where he put his grip tape, and use bedliner there only.

    I have a skateboard that’s like 30 years old and as far as grip tape only the edges are dry. For 40 bucks 30 years of service seems like a great deal!!

    Was your skateboard exposed to the elements 365 days per year for 30 years? I cannot imagine the lettering on the tape not fading. Nonetheless, they look good on the truck now and the price was right.

    I need to get the sliders first! LOL. I was just picturing something semi gloss painted with the area taped off similar to his grip tape, but done in bedliner just in that area. Just for a little contrast and just as a spot to step. Hopefully the rest of the slider will be easily touched up with rustoleum.I guess I’m just trying to be different LOL. But I did see your sliders in person, they are tits!

    You don’t realize how much your leg touches the slider until you take a few layers of skin off. Maybe a stock truck would be different due to not having to jump into or out of a truck but I doubt many stock trucks run sliders.

    Which is why I want leaning towards paint when the time comes. Just with bedliner on the top portion where you step, and that’s it. Like a 1 foot area in front of each door. But I bet with the weight of the truck, they will slide with no matter what you put on them. It will peel anything right off against a rock. They are called sliders! But you don’t want to slide off of them and break your neck LOL
