    Flux capacitor!
Time to begin my next build thread for my new diesel build. I’ve had four tundras in a row but I needed more tow capabilities for my work. So I’m now doing a diesel build to keep up with my work demands. This plan is to keep my truck functional and very capable to use my daily work needs. That my be very hard for me to keep this build more practical and not go over board as I’m always wanting to do something different. So time will tell of I can fight the urge or not.

My first modification are window tint all the way around the truck. OEM painted fenders flares. I’ve already placed my order to replace the stock amber fender flare reflectors with Klearz smoked lenses.
    55000A86-1B3A-4C9E-AC9D-D50AB1D4C51B.jpg
I’ve already got my wider mud flaps and the custom matched paint to make them match the rest of the truck.

I picked up my Undercover Flex Ed cover today. I couldn’t wait to get it installed so I installed it the same day. It only took about an hour to install.

I ordered the OEM GMC bed cover. I like that it was molded for the stock bed so it lays perfectly flat. The carpet still need to lay more flat 459A6294-6101-4288-9235-B9CF6F60D80A.jpg

I’ve got the amp research steps on order but not sure when they will arrive yet. I’m waiting for BDS to kit the market yet.

I’m looking at forged wheels but I don’t know what size yet until I can figure out what lift I’m doing yet. I’m going to do a dark powder coat finish on the wheels. BDS is supposed to release their coil over lifts for my truck in the next month. :)

We’re you still thinking of doing a Gladiator or has this taken over for that?

I still have my rims and roof rack for the gladiator build. I’m going to put the gladiator on hold for the time being. I love the look of them lifted but I think the cost of them is to high. Plus they have a diesel option coming out soon. I think it’s better to wait before taking the plunge on that idea.

This truck just made a lot more sense for my day to day needs.

    thank you.
How are you finding the ride on this truck? I’ve owned Ford counterparts in the 250 and 350 weight class. Empty it rode like crap. Only when did truck was under load, did it run smoother.
im guessing these trucks now require the ad blue to run them smoothly

The truck does feel stiffer on the road but if comes stock with Rancho shocks. That’s my only major complaint on the truck is the shocks. I’m going to go with fox 2.5 coil-overs up front and fox 2.0 shocks in the rear on the stock leaf springs. This will resolve the stiff ride issue.

Yes all diesels require the def fluid to pass emissions. I have a five gallon def fluid tank. Some people will delete the truck and remove the system all together but that voids your warranties and doesn’t meet emissions or inspections. So I’m going to retain the stock def setup so I stay compliant with emissions.

Yea I know about emissions and diesels. My ole man travels a lot, and owns a 13 Mercedes S-class diesel. I had the pleasure of discovery what the additive was all about. Other then the additive those cars are tanks, I’ve all ready told him when he gets tired of it, I’ll keep it.

What version the fox shocks were you thinking? Something like the performance to change the suspension settings?

I ordered the OEM painted fender flares. So I don’t have to paint them. I do have to paint the lower mud flaps and I’ve already ordered the same OEM color in spray cans.

I was going to get the shocks that BDS provides with the lift kit. They are typically the factory shock line. They are a good shock. I’m waiting on the specs to be released yet.

Took my front grill off this morning to replace the stock red emblems with some black ones. I’m going to paint the stock chrome surround to match my truck and backlight my GMC lettering. I’ll use the stock red letters to modify while the black ones are on for now. ABEE43E9-1FD8-4E26-8386-378547C3F3B3.jpg

Rear tailgate after badges are gone. I will likely take off the AT4 and paint it black or match the paint color and keep the 4 in red.

That looks so much better. Those tailgates are busy enough without all those badges. Nice work. That Wolfgang stuff you use looks pretty damn good.
