For those of yall with SPC UCAs, how often do you grease the ball joints and how many pumps? I had not greased mine myself since last December when I installed them and gave em 10 pumps each. I just gave em 5 each. Last time I got my oil changed (it's almost time again) I asked em to grease everything but I highly doubt they did.

Thanks. I'll give it another couple pumps when I change the oil in a few weeks I guess.

I received my double din radio and started to install then I hit a snag! The wiring harness I ordered does NOT match. I took a picture (attached). Anybody run into this and know what harness is the right one??
The top two are the stock harness from the truck. The bottom one is the harness that I received. This is the standard harness I find all over when I google "2003 tundra radio harness". Any insight would be super appreciated!

Oh boy I know those blues all too well my friend. I went thru 3 harnesses before I got it right. Looks like you might need the same one I did. Which is the amp bypass harness. It's super long and you'll have to run it from the radio to the amp under your passenger rear seat

Be carefully where.you run this, as I managed to accidentally snag mine on the passenger kick panel and it shorted out and fried the amp on my touch screen. Had to buy another touch screen. :(

Really appreciate that info! I didn't think I had an amp in this truck honestly. The system looked like the cheaper version but will go dig back to your experiences and send back this harness...

I ALMOST took this to a shop to just do all the work but I thought it's just to easy to pay someone to do it.......and here we are....

Check under the rear pass seat inside the storage compartment for an amp or a black plastic thing hiding an amp behind it. We both have limiteds. Do you have the 6 disk changer?

Radio looks the same but I don't think I have a 6 disk..Haven't really gotten into the truck like that yet. Nothing in the storage area BUT I did notice that there was something that LOOKED like an amp in the dash. I just went out to grab a quick pic (don't judge the dust, idk what this truck was used for before me) and i also noticed that the harnesses that plug into the radio go directly into this box and I also just saw two plugs that go into the box. I am going to remove it it and see if the plugs that go into this "amp" match the harness I purchased. If so, I'll just rip this out?

That's right, the older.models had the amp.in the dash. You're lucky. Yours will be easy once you get the right harness

Actually, because of your help and turning me onto the amp I found a blog (link below) and they said just remove the harness that goes into the amp and plug into the standard harness I purchased. Super easy!!

    https://caraudiotips.blogspot.com/2013/01/toyota-tundra-factory-amp-bypass.html

I appreciate everyone's help on this and hopefully, if another harness issue arises, someone can benefit from this dialogue.

The regular radio plugs are on that one. Just unplug it and remove it if you wanted.

[IMG] Well cut the headliner for the overhead... ain’t the prettiest cut ever... but you can’t see it. Now to do the secondary sun visor cuts..

Can a anyone take their secondary visors off and shoot me a pic of the hole in the visor?

Open heart on my 2004 went well and she is now in Intensive care. She'll have to deal with our unexpected 38deg weather outside by herself. I have to take one for the team and manage the central heat.
Overall I am very satisfied with the Service Rep who was a pleasure to work with and the Master Tech who performed the surgery. If ever in the Tuscumbia Al area, give Toyota of the Shoals a shout. Tell Kip(Service Rep)or Keith(Master Tech) that Bubba highly recommended them.

    Total Parts: $1330

Yeah. Holy shit. Bubba, you should have has us price check that man. That's insanely expensive.

I'm very curious what a fuel system cleaning actually does. I paid for this on my old Corolla once and felt like I got hosed. Doesn't look like they even replaced the fuel filter.

    Cool Springs:
    List Price: $121.39
    You Save: $38.34 (31.60% off)
    Sale Price: $83.05

    ToyotaPartsDeal
    Your Price: $86.12
    Retail Price: $121.39

Having looked up most of the parts online before making final decision, I knew going in what their parts prices were versus what I could have paid by buying online from CoolSprings, ToyotaPartsDeal, etc... At the end of the day it was a personal decision and what is not shown in those figures is the $450 discount they gave me which somewhat made up for the somewhat higher prices in parts compared to online. Only thing I could then question is the Labor which I won't do because all that they did was reasonable figures as far as I am concerned. Having been raised around home construction with my Dad(God rest his Soul), if a person performs quality work, I'm prepared to pay their rates if it's within reason. Keith gave me quality work and I am very satisifed….YMMV in your projects !

If you're fine with the prices that's all that matters. The truck will run great when you get it back. Good for another 90k!

The $450 discount helped me be fine knowing they can not compete with prices CoolSprings or others offer online. In fact when I was in the Nashville area, I visited a Toyota Dealers Parts Dept, gave them a list for a quote. Needless to say their counter prices were the same or similar to Toyota of Shoals counter but their online prices were indeed discounted compared to their counter prices.
Yes, the truck runs as great as it did when I dropped it off. He was actually impressed with the toughness of the engine and could tell it had been well maintained. IF I was 20, maybe even 10 years younger when I was always doing my own things, the price out of pocket would have been drastically different. I'll still be doing other things in coming months....brakes, fluids, valve caskets :) and a number of other things. Age catches up with all of us but they haven't thrown dirt on me just yet :)

Checked the oil level which was good. Coolant good! Filled up washer fluid reservoir.

Lubed up the front hood closer shafts with some PB Blaster with Lithium. Speaking of these, does anyone remember the action on these when they were new? I seem to remember slightly raising the hood to open and then it raised up on its own. Now I need to get mine more than halfway and then it raises slowly on its own.

The closers are expensive and not something thats a big deal as they are still working ok/decently. Paid good money a few years back for new closers replacements on my Aluminum Side Boxes. Went with a heavier duty type (rated in pounds) and they performed nicely.

Anyone have a quick cheap fix other than a broom stick prop?

[IMG] Well newer radios work. But uh. This one doesn’t fit

So the real question is, do I swap in a newer oem touch screen and enjoy working factory functions like the dimmer and a much cleaner install. Or do I go aftermarket and enjoy all the bells and whistles. Pricing seems about on equal feature for feature. But no car play units that’ll fit the factory hole in the dash
