Step Bar Replacement

Another simple swap that I did was replacing the step bars. The step bars that came on the truck were a fine platform, but they were completely flat and once the truck was lifted and had tires, you really had to hike your leg up high to get in. Likewise, since Toyota went the route of removing the grab handle from the A-pillar (which I know can be re-added with parts from @Roman), that makes getting in and out precarious.

I decided to grab a set from my friends at CORD Automotive. You guys all know these step bars as the "Predator" step bars, but this company is the actual manufacturer of them. I don't even think the swap took 20 minutes and I was able to sell the original ones to a person on Facebook who drove all the way from Georgia to get them.

Can you please provide more input on the FlowmasterFX system? I am 46 and can't deal with an irritating loud/drone/exhaust. I have read as much as I can find on this system but still, the input on real-world driving is sparse at best. I love the look but do not want to waste $500(+) on an exhaust that will end up giving me a damn headache.

I loved it. The only other system I had to compare it against was a Magnaflow that I had on my Tacoma which droned like crazy, but the Flowmaster kit was pleasant and I plan to add the same kit to my new Tundra when I have time.

Hey Bill!
I'm not sure if you'll see this as this thread is really old. My husband (also a William) recently bought this truck! We live about an hour outside of Vegas. I don't think there's a Rostra distributor out here, but we were hoping to put new cameras around the truck as the current ones are very worn. Any recommendations for cameras?

Front-End LED Lighting

This truck came with the factory LED headlamps, so I didn't need to retrofit or buy an aftermarket set, which was good. It also came with the factory LED fog lamps, which I sold to someone on Facebook (I think). With the LED fog lamps out of the way, I moved forward with two new LED products out front.

The first, is the LED DRL system manufactured by my employer. If you live in the southeast states, you have likely seen these on a Tundra somewhere as we supply them to the Toyota port of entry in FL. What we manufacture is a replacement bezel for the body panel underneath the headlamp that integrates a 10-watt LED into a fixture that displays at full brightness during the day and then dims to about 10% when the headlamps turn on. These are available in factory colors 040 Super White, 1D6 Silver Sky Metallic, 1G3 Magnetic Gray Metallic, 202 Onyx Black, and what I had to use - unpainted.

So, the process began by taking the unpainted lamp's bezels to a local paint and body shop that we farm some work out to when we are too backed up. They sprayed the bezels with my paint code 8T0 and did an excellent job matching the color. Here's some photos of them installed and powered on:

They're a perfect match to the LED DRL feature in the factory headlamp in terms of color temperature.

Secondly, and a product I had mentioned before, I replaced the OE LED fog lamps with the Auer Automotive 2-in-1 set. During the day, the ring of LEDs illuminates inside the lamp housing. When you turn on your headlamps, that ring dims to about 10% power, and then you can use the included factory-style control switch to power on the fog lamps. When the fog lamps are on, the LED ring inside stays on too!

Just a heads up, the OP hasn't been on the forum since July 2023 so it's unlikely he will respond. I don't have any recommendations for you but you could make a new thread asking for recommendations and someone else may have information to help you.
