The sad thing is that some of you have really terrible local Toyota dealerships.

Maybe the customers dealing with bad dealerships should voice your frustrations with Toyota Corporation as a group, raise hell with the Mother ship.

A few years ago I tried to point out to this snooty, older Oklahoma lady (you know the type, way too old for her chosen designer clothing and handbag) that her wheels were installed incorrectly (Lexus IS350 and the front wheels were out over the fends and the rears were tucked way up into the body. I even showed her how far the fronts stuck out VS the rears being so far into the body. "You don't know what you're talking about. My dealership knows how to change my tires". Whatever lady...whatever.

I plan to use up my free service from the dealership. I'll bring it to my local mechanic every now and then, especially if anything suspicious comes up that they aren't going to cover free repairs on.

I'll also make sure to bring it to them in my last year for their inspection, before I go off warranty.

The $500 service credit they also gave me, I'm going to ask for in parts...bed mat, divider etc.

Well just to add to my original post, I changed the oil in my truck last night since I hit 25k miles. I also installed my RCI skid plate.....

Just to add to the incompetence is mind blowing.

    1. The 3 small 1/4" bolts in the very front that holds the plastic bumper to the skid were missing. The plastic tabs of the bumper were loose and flopping.

    2. Only 3 out of the 5 M8 skid bolts were replaced. The 2 in the very front holding it to the radiator support, and the 1 middle bolt in the back/middle part of skid plate. Missing the 2 outer bolts. The 3 bolts were so tight, I thought for sure I was going to break a head off but they eventually came out.

    3. Much like the skid plate bolts, the oil filter canister was tight!!!! Took 10 minutes and careful wrenching to get it off.

Only positive is new RCI skid plate is on and torqued to spec and oil changed.

I really was hoping I would have gotten a survey from Toyota as this is a major fail and disappointment for first time going to this dealer!!!

Same thing happened to me when I had them install my 6112s on the front. After they figured out the problem, I checked when I got home and there was STILL one airbox clamp undone.

Funny but sad thread. My local Toyota dealer has crappy service too. I changed my oil at 5k myself because I didn’t want to wait for the 10k free service. Then a few days later took it in for the 5k tire rotation and guess what they did?

Changed the freakin oil again by mistake! I said I want my oil and filter back and they looked at me like I had 3 heads.
Called the Service Manager and made them give me a refund for the oil and filter they threw away. I said didn’t the tech question why the oil and filter looked so clean for an oil change? The service advisor said “you can’t tell the difference between new oil and oil at 5k miles”. I said really? Well I still have the old oil and you sure as hell can!

    Pure incompetence.

I can build a desktop from bare parts, probably solder the components of the motherboard myself, if need be. I build ridiculously complex websites from absolute blank pages all the time.

But I don't trust that I can properly service my truck :notsure:

Just like in my industry, there will always be folks in need of professional services.

I have to say so far so good with my dealer but only one visit since purchase. Took mine in for 5k service. Was supposed to only get fluids and rotation since my truck is a nonFFV and oil recommended every 10k. Well the service guy says its getting fluids topped, tire rotation and oil change. I said I thought oil change was 10k for nonFFV. He said mine had FFV "qualities". I have no idea what that meant but I was perfectly fine with a free oil change every 5k instead of 10.

Dear Gawd ^^^. Just when I thought the very last SOS (Story Of Stupid) had been told............another beauty lands here on the pages of tundras.com.

I bought three new Toyotas (including my '17 Tundra) in 4 months. Each time I told Dude "there's NO reason to go over the free services. You will not be touching my vehicle....thank you." His look each time was priceless.
